242turbo
hey, ive done a bit of searching around and i cant seem to find any info on this. I get lost with the headunit codes. I have the 3cd changer volvo headunit in my 98 C70. It says CD 2 Error and holds in the cd mag. Sometimes i manage to get it out and i put a cd in the cd1 or cd3 and it still throws up an error on cd2. If i dont want to spend 2-300$ putting in a aftermarket headunit, what can i do? Is there any OEM replacement that isnt a pain in the a**? I dont mind going after market, but i dont want to sacrifice the quality, (i have the 11 speaker? with the center channel) Also my car is gutted in the rear, and ive noticed theres two 8 or 10 inch holes on each side, has anyone ever attached 2 subs up to these holes? I plan on putting the rear interior back in, but that would be a cool clean setup. Also with wiring subs, and i just wire them out of the rear speaker? Thanks in Advance. 1998C70T5
is it a coupe or convertible?... and no i dont think you can do anything cheap or easy on a C70. the 900 head unit has an external amp so it isnt a simple plug in swap. if you want to add subs you will need a bigger amp.toss a boom box in the back seat? Beach Boy
yeah your oem amp wouldn't be a good idea to use for subs. maybe disconnect the rear deck speakers, rewire the rest of the setup so that highs and mids go to certain speakers, and lows just the subs. get the highs/mids separately amped to you can set the High pass filter. Guest 242turbo9
i would be adding an amp if i did subs. Really, right now i want my friken cd player working. Is there a oem replacement that wont break? or are they all sh*ty? if i had a aftermarket head unit will it effect the quality? i'd like to keep a stock headunit, but its annoying that they always throw codes and break. What does everyone do about it?
evilb
If it sounds like its trying to put the CD back in the magazine and failing then I might have a solution for you.http://www.freewebs.com/reasonfailed/volvocdchangerfix.htmJust need to take out the radio. Unscrew the top cover. Reconnect it to the car and hit the eject button while CAREFULLY helping it slide the CD back in the magazine. Then you just need to thoroughly clean the roller I highlight in the pics with a Q-tip and some rubbing alocohol (might need to trick the radio into rotating the roller by pushing in an empty magazine). Worked like a charm for me and I haven't had a problem since I did this last July. The problem is that dust gets on that roller from dirty CDs and then it slips while trying to push a CD back in the magazine.
