RZT5
does anyone know how to override the shift lock on a 2003 S80?
smokin' T5M
stop spilling juice and coffee in the shifter. It doesn't have a manual override like other models. You have to expose the guts of the shifter and move the white arm on the left side of the shifter.

TEKVOLVO
if you remove the shift lock cable from the white lever it will default into a position which eliminates shift lock. just take the side trim off the left side of center console, with that little half turn clip, you can see the whole bit tucked right up under there. if you do something with the yellow cable adjuster lock, it should be replaced, kinda one time use thing. to line the cable up prior to adjusting, you need to put a 5 or 6mm pin through the white shift lock lever and the housing. it is really easy to do if you pull up the trim around the gear shift module and put an allan or allan type torx wrench in there. i think a t27 ot t30 fits just right. line it up with the key off, then clip the yellow holder down, spray the cable with silicone and keep the coffee off of it. RZT5
I'll tell my parents to stop spilling stuff on it, lol. its not the shifter thats broken though, the chip reader (or whatever its called) in the ignition isnt detecting the key anymore, so the key wont turn. so they had to get it towed to the mechanic to get the chip reader in the ignition replaced. but since the key wont turn they cant take the gearbox out of park to tow it. they ended up just getting a tow truck with dolley's cuz they were too scared to mess with the shifter themselves. thanks for the responses though
smokin' T5M
The transponder in the key shouldn't cause the shifter to not come out of park. That's simply for allowing the car to start. If the key won't turn thats usually the coded ignition lock. Would like to hear more about the repairs.

Talked to my mom about the car and it turns out its not the transponder reader that shes getting replaced, its the whole ignition cylinder which makes alot more sense
