matt1122
Okay, I'm looking to keep this years beater a used car under $20,000. I probably won't keep it for toooo long.Requirement List:Drivetrain: AWD or 4WDTransmission: AnyPrice: ~$15,000-$20,000Type: Preferably a sedan or sportswagon, not SUV or large wagon. Here's my favorite so far:2001 BMW 325xi ($19,900) - Loaded, 55K Miles (claimed HW), AT, Black/BeigeThere is an 01 330xi available as well for a very close price. What is the difference, just the wheelbase?I'm also thinking about:2000ish Audi Quattro's in the said price range.4motion Passat'sAny comments welcome, I'm just looking for what other people might choose in this situation. And...just wondering, you can say if it's none of my business.←Sorry, but I like being mysterious. Lets just say I worked extremely hard for it and it was completely legal. :P
kenhoeve
that laredo must be shot.trading it in on another 15-20k car after one year? yep, that sounds equitable. <_<

v70XXXc
my dream beater is a subaru brat w/ the jump seats in the back and all of about 87 horsepower. but if you have that kind of bread an early 90's porsche C4 w/ steelies and snow tires is the answer. plus you can drive it for a year and sell it for exactly what you bought it for. Mesoam
matt why not pick up a used Range/Disco? I'm sure a decent one can be had for less than 20K
turbobrick
... i would buy a 5k to 10k beater.. and pocket the rest.
matt1122
The Laredo I wasn't satisfied with after the new car excitement went away, and as such it is gone, while not shot at all. I tried to get my hands on a High Output V8 Overland but they couldn't find one I liked enough to spend that kind of money on a Jeep. And I'm not trading it in, I sold it to my brother.I'm not a male prostitute... yet.No, I will never go to BMW boards. V70XXXc, the C4 sounds like a good though and FUN, too. I'll look around and consider that option. Mesoam, I have yet to find any for sale to price. I am also considering the Pathfinder as well, even though I do prefer car to truck-ish-thingy.Turbobrick, a nice thought, and V70 reg the Subaru, the only problem is it's not really going to be a beater, per say, I plan on keeping it until I get my next daily driver, which I am waiting for late next spring or summer or fall to do. I need something I won't mind driving for a year, just in case.

Playboy
Again, just to give my 2 cents and to throw a curve ball into this, I ask you this Matt.No offence, but it does seem like you're coming off alittle cocky by posting "what do I do with 15-20K?" without saying how you have this much $ being your only 20?If you've got some rich folks at home, more power to you to have that luxary.I personally work 55+hours a week for a mear 30K a year, so when you go ahead and post some crap like this, I'm not going to let it go unsaid.-Ryan
matt1122
JDELUNA - This won't be a true beater or something I modifiy, just something I drive every day for a while until I get a new, more permanent car, which will I'm now thinking will probably be the XC90 V8 - Hence why I need something to hold me over if I want to garage the Volvo.Mesoam - I'm in NJ so CT dealers would be a bit of a treck, but maybe I will look around here for those.NFGplayboy - I don't think it's anyone's business how I come across the money I have, this is the open internet and I'd like to keep some things private if you don't mind. And if you do, tough.
