Lowering Springs On Front Only

Real Quick,

So i have Bilstein TC's on my rear with regular volvo springs (ditched the nivomats, they rattled).

Question is:

A member here has some Koni yellow struts with H&R springs. I haven't done my fronts yet, she really needs it. I know that if i just do the TC's on the front, it's gonna raise it. I'm not really into much lowering (scrape the R bumper enough as it is), but i want good camber. Figured I'd just do lowering springs on the front to counteract the rise but they are only sold in sets of 4.

Is it kosher with my setup to run the lowering springs only on the front or will this cause problems?

Thanks guys, still trying to get the hang of the search function........ :)

Thanks Dudes!!!!

Problems since the compression ratio is going to be different from the front to rear

but again a few have used the lowering springs in the front and used stockes in the back and chopped them to lower the car even more.

i'm not really looking to chop my rears.... What kind of problems can different spring compression ratios from front to back cause? and even if i chopped the rear springs how would that change the overall compression ratio of a stock spring?

i need help, i'm not great on suspensions and the last thing i want is to have control problems

Un-matched springs can change the dynamics of the suspension. Handling characteristics would change but so long as the driver is aware of it, my opinion is it should not pose a control issue. Jusk ask those who installed overload rear spring for their wagons.

I'm willing to bet the handling of a wagon with regular spring & shocks is different from one with Nivos.

I can tell you from experience that when I installed rear R sway-bar to my 855 which originally has none, the handling was changed like day and night (for the better), even before I went ahead and lowered it much later.

The thing is, if the Koni/H&R front will lower the front-end of the car, you may have to consider cutting the upper portion of your rear spring as mentioned, or the car's stance may not look right. Search for 'cutting' and inquire to people who dunnit for their inputs.

Most people don't see any increase in ride height when they install TC's, it's the Bilstein HD struts that seem to raise the car.

The H&R springs are not the LOWEST ones out there. But they will drastically change the ride (and handling) of the car. Not going to be comfy like the TC's at all.

yea, that's why i went with the TC's they are plenty firm enough for me, and we don't have tracks out here so anything good enough to scare the rich folks with my black mamba, corner well and remain somewhat comfy is my goal. Plus i don't need to drop mad scratch on fancy suspension parts so some pushy lady in an SUV with a dog on her lap can side swipe me and flush all that money down the toilet. Hope you like the Koni's NGB, i'll figure something out ;)

TC's raised mine for sure. Look at the pics of Big Red. eibachs with bilstein tc's. Looks like the front isnt even lowered.

honestly, although i only have crummy 15 in. wheels, (which may make a difference visually) My car as it is now (R stock fronts, nivo delete and TC's with stockers on the rear) looks almost exactly the same in terms of tire tuck. I assume you have the eibachs on all four corners? that's why i was thinking of only doing the front lower, doing both front and rear would lower the car proportionally and i'd still have that gap up front..... damn, what's a guy to do????

In my opinion your car could corner like crap if you lower the front and not the rear. Center of gravity will lower in the front and your back end is going to get loose easier. could be wrong, actually might not be a bad thing after all.

There was this girl in high school. She had a cavalier with air shocks on the back. She had that thing so tricked out (whip antenna, neon wipers) and the back end was so high you could see the gas tank over her rear wheels. (I'm not even exagerating) Her car rocked.

I hope this little story helps
