Need a favor welding a few aluminum pieces together for a brace.Will a muffler shop be able to do this type of work or do I have to find a specialty shop to do so? mAydAy Posted February 19, 2008 Report Share Posted February 19, 2008 You can mig weld aluminum but you can't just pick up a mig welder that has been being used for welding steel and weld aluminum.It requires different wire, a different tip, typically a different gas blend, and for best results a spoolgun.
