Went up to check the outline for the foundation. Going to dig next week. I told the guys who were going to be marking it to put it in the middle of the lot. Since it's pretty narrow I thought people of normal mental capacity would know to put it in the middle side to side (especially since I have a 3 foot variance on both sides.) but they put it dead center with the kitchen hanging off the second level of stairs. I even said 15 feet back from the well but instead they covered the well with part of the living room. :monkey:

Oh well, not hard to fix. Took some pics of my stones since I'm so damn happy with how they came out. It's a bit tough to grasp the way they look in the pics but I'm standing at the top of my beach, about 20 feet from the water. The top level is about 30 feet above the bottom level of the beach, so they look nice and imposing. :D

I've been fighting with the town inspector but after my lawyer threatening to take the town to court over the permit costs he suddenly retired. I'm so glad he's gone. My permit should be only $800-$900 since my projected costs are so low. He changed the building cost so the permit was going to cost me $1800. Fuck that.

All things considered, even though the progress is slow, it's exactly where it should be.

Maybe some pikes with heads?

I'm actually going to head down with my AR some time soon to take care of a couple of beavers that have been causing some trouble. The middle platform will make a nice spot to setup for some long shots across the lake. :D

I tired to take a panoramic shot of the lake today. It was really tough to line the pics up though because I was being attack by a swarm of a-hole black flies.

I don't think it came out too bad, considering it was taken with my $40 cell phone.

This is taken from roughly where the porch area will be. The town doesn't want me to cut those trees on the right but I have a feeling they are going to die and fall over anyways.

Foundation. Exciting right? It's definitely not done but at least it's up.

It's actually really square. I was able to look down the wall and didn't see any of the typical swails that most foundations have. I checked it out with a square and these guys did a really awesome job. They are going to pour the floor and garage slab (I was able to work it in) later in the week.

Quick! Change the plans so you get a pit in your garage! :D

but the place looks great... quite jealous.

Unfortunately, it's on a dirt road that's a little rough for my fun cars or I'd do that. I'm hoping to get the state to do a better grade job on their section of it this spring. I think this garage will be more like lawn equipment/boat storage. Nothing too exciting. :D

The may flies have been INTENSE this year which is strange because it hasn't been overly warm or humid...

Looks good bud, when's the house warming kegger?

I'd really like to hold a GTG up there. The house probably won't be done till next summer, though.

The road will be a factor for any super low guys. Most people won't have any issues but it would be so much nicer if it were paved.

makes me wish i was back in NH. Carefull what you wish for tho... we got our road paved and next thing you know they wanted 8' of our frontage to make room for 2 marked lanes. Fortunately that didnt happen.
