State Inspection And Readiness

Just thought I'd pass along this information to anyone getting their Volvo inspected in Massachusetts. My inspection sticker was due this month and I've been trying to get my 98 S70 GLT into a readiness state for the past few months. This morning when I went down to get an inspection sticker, none of the monitors were in a ready state. I'd driven about 700 miles since I'd reset the CEL but the monitors hadn't come ready yet. I was standing next to the machine when the guy plugged into my OBD port. It went through it's communication phase and then came up with all the monitor tests in red , indicating they weren't in readiness, but I still passed. The printout the guy gave me listed the readiness state as an "exception", indicating it's not required in Massachusetts.
