J0E
Since Lance Armstrong's success in the Tour de France, the yellow wristbands showing support for the LAF and cancer research have been gaining in popularity. Myself along with my girlfriend both got one several weeks before the event, before there was such high demand for them, before they were back-ordered. Having a great-uncle who is in his 80s and currently losing the battle with brain-cancer along with a friend who is a Leukemia survivor, we each donated $100 to the LAF and subsequently got the bracelets. What pisses me off to no end is that people are now wearing these bracelets as a fashion statement and don't give two sh1ts about the actual cause. They just want to be seen wearing one because it's the "in" thing to have around your wrist. I've even been offered $20 a few times for the bracelet. Lately I've even had more girls approach me than usual simply because of the bracelet. While I can't complain about that...what the he|l is their premise?Thank God the same thing hasn't happened to the CHP 11-99 Foundation, but I'm sure if they were giving out trendy wristbands instead of plaques/license plate frames for every $1,800+ donation, people would be jumping on the bandwagon too. what is wrong with these people? junibunie
who cares as long as the foundation is getting money from it..a trend is the best thing for it i would think.←Well whats irritating is the people who are just trying to make a profit out of it, like the people who sell them at eBay for more than what its worth. Veneficus
i'm sorry.. you were talking ? i cant stop watching your avatar.←I tend to have that problem too... I too got one way before the hype was going on. I was I think about #40k something to sign the online support thing (the one with the jerseys/bike riders). Its gotten way out of hand though. I have a grandfather who died of prostate cancer and a grandmother who had ovarian cancer (more than 40 years ago, and she just died recently) so cancer is no friend to my family. I was more than glad to help out the cause.
Mesoam
i agree with joe for once. The other day i saw someone wearing the bracelet and decided to do a little inquiry and they didn't know who Lance Armstrong was. On one end, yes it is good for the foundation but at the same time it pisses me off being a cyclist.

Adam Franke
A friend of mine wears 4 of them and I want to smack him. He doesn't know or care about the research behind it, he just thinks it's "cool." I have one, but I never wear it. I gave the donation and got one, but it just sits in my desk.
