T5 Vs. 2.5t - Differences?

Looking to purchase a P2 wagon from 2004 to 2006. I know that the T5 was dropped around 2003-2004, however I see some 2.5T wagons. Do they share the same specs as the T5, or are they different?

Regards,

the 2.5T isn't that much of a pig tho at 210hp. My folks have one i drive when my 850's up on blocks, not a bad ride at all. IPD has ECU's for 'em that add a nice amount of gumption if you want it.

Thats right, you can chip a 2.5t and youll be around the same power as the t5.

Your best choice probably depends on how you intend to drive. The 2.5T hits max torque at ~1600 RPM, so it's basically instantly in the power band. The T5 hits peak torque higher (2600 RPM), but has more top end (HP is ~40 higher in the T5, but the stock torque numbers were very close). Both are fine engines.

The T5 had the 2.3L engine at 247 HP through MY04. In MY05, it became a 2.5L R engine putting out 260HP. In MY06, it was gone....

Thanks - I appreciate the answers. This is great information. Will most likely get a 2.5T and mod it as I go. Majority of driving is local with a few highway miles a month. An R would be cool, but the specialized tires, AWD and adaptive suspension makes for "too many moving parts".

Then you better off with a T5 ;)

T-5 = more jerk. T-5 came with a 2.3L high pressure turbo motor, around 246hp.

How do the Bilsteins ride? Are they punishing in the T5?

I know you didn't ask me, but I have them, too (with Eibach springs). They're a little rough when the car is unloaded (though not enough to be uncomfortable or even to make my wife complain), but with a little weight in back, they're better settled and make for a comfortable ride.
