potroast
I ordered some brembo rotors to replace my warped rotors a few days ago. I didn't think to order new pads because my pads have around 90% left on em.However, someone was telling me that the Volvo OEM pads will wreak havok on my new rotors... is this true? If so, should I get new pads? If that is the case, any recommendations on good, cost-effective pads?
jda2000
Not true. It's rec to start with new pads when u install new rotors, but not necessarily since your pads are almost new.Sand the pad surface of your old pads with coarse sandpaper to give it the "new" feel, and install.Let the new rotors and pads "set in", by following the new rotor setting technique included with your new rotors. potroast
okay, cool. I'd hate to throw away good pads anyway. I'll sand em and break em in.
L_five_t
ceramic pads are supposed to lengthen the life of your rotors.
steve s
the thing is ... even tho it's only used 10%.. the warped rotor may already imprint the imperfections and ruts onto the pads. usually, u don't want to bring those imprints onto a new rotor. just keep in mind next time u swap rotors
