hgray14
So, I notice a lot of markings on the ECUs but two stand out. There is a long Bosch number and a short number that is printed large on one side. I am assuming these are the main identiiers. Here is what I have:1995 850 Turbo in Pewter - ECU 8.2, Bosch 0 261 203 071 (072) Tranny Computer 5.31995 850 Turbo in Gray (IPDed) - ECU 8.2, Bosch 0 261 203 071 (072) Tranny Computer 5.31995 850 T-5R Yellow #1 - ECU 7.2, Bosch 0 261 203 628, Tranny Computer 4.31995 850 T-5R Yellow #2 (IPDed) - ECU 7.2 Bosch 0 261 203 628, Tranny Computer 4.3What does the big 8.2 and 7.2 signify? Is one better than the other? Can the 071 and the 628 be swapped? What does the big number on the secondary computer (the Tranny computer, I assume) signify and is the 5.3 any better than the 4.3?thanksHouston
hawks25
Methinks you're not going to get an answer. I had a similar question and didn't get squat.
Yellow95
Every single one of them are swappable and only The R ecu's are "better" then the others. You will have absolutely no problem swapping any of them but if you want to know which one to use, use the IPD first, then an R second.GaryMethinks you're not going to get an answer. I had a similar question and didn't get squat. You are asking the wrong people then. I have a vast amount of experience swapping ecu's and would gladly help you.Gary
hgray14
Thanks GaryThat makes sense; the R's are upgraded from the factory. From what I have read about IPD once they get a hold of them the 850 Turbo and 850 T-5R should be turning out exactly the same performance numbers. What about the Tranny computers? Are those different for the Rs? What will it do for me if I put it into my Turbo? If it will increase performance that would be great but if not than there is no point.thanks again; you must be the only one on here who knows this stuff since it took quite a while to get a response and so far it has only been you.Houston
Yellow95
all the tranny ecu's will be the same and make no difference. How did you come across all those ecu's?Gary
hgray14
LOL ...I bought the cars that are attached to them.At present I am a five Volvo owner...two in T-5R Creme Yellow of all things. I was lucky enough to stumble onto two people with cars that had lots of upgrades who were looking to part them out. The 850 Turbo will get parted out; the Creme Yellow will hopefully get resurected.HoustonLOL ...I bought the cars that are attached to them.At present I am a five Volvo owner...two in T-5R Creme Yellow of all things. They didn't think they were any good for the road anymore.Houston
