Gregg
Anyone know any details of the remodel for the 2006 S80? Is a V8 planned for it? Any spy pics or anything?

potroast
Sorry that it's a repost. It was new to me, and I just had to share Anyway, this is a vehicle that gets good gas mileage (18mpg city) and has LOTS of power (315hp). I mean, it's a 4.4L V8 that has lower emissions, better economy, and the same power output as the best-in-class Nissan Armada!Plus you can't beat the torque output of the V8... The design naturally lends itself to having high-torque at lower-rpms. Coupled with the 6-speed auto and a nice AWD drivetrain... well... I'm happy, to say the least. But yes, as Legend put so well 315>268.Oh, and throw some flowmasters on it and pull up to a chevy at the next light... Yes, I love the sound of a V8. potroast
Im sorry a DOHC, realatively small, emmisioned out v8 is NOT going to sound at all like a SBC w/ flowmasters.←My CA-emissions 3.4L DOHC V6 Tacoma with a flowmaster sounds close. A 4.3L V6 Chevy S10 with a flowmaster sounds close. A 4.7L DOHC CA-emmissions Tundra sounds exactly like it. A 5.6L DOHC CA-emmissions Titan will actually sound MORE agressive than the 350. The difference is the number of cylindars...It may not have that raw bumbumbupumbbum to it that a carb'd 350 would.... but it'd definitely have an agressive and deep tone to it. Prolly have a nice top-end sound, too.
matt1122
They said they worked hard on the sound in the press releases, so we'll have to wait and see what exactly it does sound like.

patrick
i agree, they definately sound different, the 4.3 vortech is the closest to a v8 ive heard, i dont think any of the foreign 8cyl's sound close at all, still a v8 rumble but very different from domestics. bmw m5 sounds sweet though :-)
matt1122
We had a Vortec 8100 in our first Denali. It was pretty sweet sounding. I don't know how the Volvo will sound, but I'm sure it's better than an I6. ;)
