Decided To Come Over And Join Up

Hey, guys... Just joined VolvoSpeed, but I've been aware of the community and browsed the forums once or twice before.

Just recently I lost my 1998 S70 T5 "Vera" in a black ice/roll-over incident.

As far as roll-overs go, it wasn't as bad as most (I could have been like my dad and rolled a van and been pinned under it by my thumb alone...), my passengers were alright, even the one in the backseat who'd failed to wear a seatbelt. I came out unscathed, but I have my own explanation for that, Volvo structural integrity aside. That, and all the bottled booze in the back seat and trunk were unbroken. :D End result: frame rails bent from impact to hard-as-rock cinder-crusted snow and A-pillar bent slightly on the passenger side. :(

Luckily, I have an awesome Volvo mechanic who just happens to sell a few here and there and I picked up a 2003 S60 2.5T AWD. I'm still getting used to it, and it doesn't have a name yet. I had it for a week when I hit a meteor on the highway, destroying the driver side headlamp assembly. (Seriously not having luck lately)

I do some photography on the side... mostly outdoors/nature stuff, my car, and sometimes portraits and shenanigans documentation.

Thanks, man! So far I like the new Volvo. I've been in Denver for just under two years now--Red Rocks is one of my favorite places (even though it took me more than a year to finally go exploring...). I'll try and make the next meeting if I'm in town. Road warrior technical consultant FTL.

And yes, that IS Princess Leia eating a donut. B)

pretty effed up to post your joining VS as well in someones thread where they are posting the same thing. Start your own thread, we have enough welcome for both of you in two seperate threads.

what size are those tires? they look tiny

Tires are 215/35/18 and I am now replacing them with 225/40/18 Goodyear Eagle F1's to hopefully provide some more protection

awe, those are my old rims. Sad to see them bent. Why $1400 to fix!?

Two rims @ $625 each plus lower control arm, two tires and alignment. That was the initial estimate. New total is about $1900.00

What state is Nebraska in anyways???

Welcome aboard!

Nebraska IS the state and Weeping Water is the city - Home to the nations largest limestone quarry - Hence the signature picture

Sorry, chief, go easy--I'm new to this forum. I didn't see the need to go starting a thread just to welcome myself to VS--I'm not self-absorbed enough to think I'm that important. ;) That said, I apologize for stealing someone else's thunder. I didn't know what VS's forum etiquette was about posting new threads for redundant subjects. Personally, I try not to.

I'd rather not be flamed off the board on my first day for starting a thread to 1, welcome myself as pretentiously as possible and 2, creating yet another thread where one may not be needed. Not that, y'know, the guy that created this thread is pretentious or redundant.
