Todd B
Greetings Everyone...I have an 04 S60 AWD and this car rides like a tank. I can feel EVERY expansion joint in the road and the car takes them very rough. The car is so rough the interior body panels rattle as I go down the road. The dealer says it rides a little rough but cant find anything wrong with the vehicle. Does anyone have a similar experience?
ErikS
What is your tire and wheel setup? Smaller wheels and larger profile tires will give you a cushier ride.

Guest 850T-5
Probably nothing necessarily that could go wrong to cause it to ride rough unless the struts are shot already, which is unlikely. Sounds to me like the OEM tires might be crappy and not wearing very well. OEM tires, from almost all auto makes usually suck. A lot of times when tires are out of balance or worn irregularly they can cause a rough ride because they don't roll smoothly over bumps and road imperfections. When I've had my tires balanced properly, there's a noticable difference. Maybe try inspecting the tires, rotating and balancing? Also make sure you are checking the pressure cold after not driven for a few hours. I highly recommend using a digital gauge because the mechanical pop up gauges really suck and are horribly inaccurate. Could try knocking the pressure down to 34PSI all the way around if it is within the factory specified range?RE: 32PSI, 32PSI is fine for most OEM wheel / tire setups up to no more than 36PSI for a firmer ride. jb242gt
i thought volvos were tanks!it's the highway ride I watch the mostThe ride will also depend in the tire compound and temperature. Michelins ride like crap IMO. As stated earlier, profile/aspect ratio play a big part as well.
flyfishing3
i wonder if the suspension needs going over.glove box rattle is pretty common. some put kitchen cabinet rubber things in there to stop the rattle. rattle could also be the ticket holder on the glass.i ran 38lbs cold on my p2r. i don't know. As stated earlier, profile/aspect ratio play a big part as well.I quite agree. I've only had the new car for a few weeks and it came with Michelins, and it could be the taller wheels and lower profile tires, but it's definitely a lot harsher than the S70 T5 I had. It's nowhere near "a tank with excessive panel rattle" on the highway, though, even at speed. It just doesn't take some of the harsh bumps we have in Denver as well, and that's probably a combo of struts/wheel height/tire profile/Michelin tire compound.Of course, I plan to find some Falkens or comparable tires when it comes time for new ones. Asymmetrical tires FTW.
