Unresolved Purchase Damaged In Shipping From Volvospeed User...unresolved

I really didn't want to have to make this post, but the seller leaves me no choice. I purchased a corner light assembly for my 98 S70 from ferrari850. package was reasonably padded, but not protected in any way from crushing, and a smallish box was used. Sure enough, product was DOA. Seller added no insurance via USPS and claims i should "give the post office hell" to rectify the issue, and he assumes no responsibility for the situation. while the items cost isn't the issue, I'm only out 28 bucks, the principal is at hand here. Now i need to spend MORE money for another corner.

BEWARE of dealings with this user. and make sure you REQUIRE insurance if you do chance it. I wasn't offered the option, and frankly, its his responsibility to get the product to me in tact.

that makes no sense :arob:

did you ask him to include insurance? That is not usually a cost that sellers include in shipping.

and don't post this here

never ever ever ever ever ever ever ship USPS, it is horrible

I am still waiting for a xbox 360 controller from 2006... .they lost it and said tough shit

if the paddy was piss poor you would have a case.. but if you said "reasonably padded" then that means you thought it was reasonably acceptable

if a fat man sits on anything it will break... let alone the USPS.

I checked with Che_Moderator and he said to post this here and in the member review forum, which coincidently, i get an error saying i don't have permission to post in there, but thanks to all for your concern of where to post and who to check with. I was never offered insurance nor did i know how he was shipping said item to ask for insurance. If it went UPS, basic insurance is incuded Either way, it is sellers responsibility to see the transaction through completion of delivered item in tact. I did use paypal and have filed a dispute. reasonably padded means it was protected from jostling in box, not padded appropriately to avoid damage. It doesnt matter how it was damaged, it was damaged, the box was crushed.

not really

if you did not mention anything about insurance knowing that it could brake.... then it is your fault... if he shipped it in a cardboard box with NOTHING but the item and no padding then it is his fault but you said it was reasonable meaning again... that you thought it would be enough

but WHO KNOWS what happens on the transit... so you might have to eat this one buddy.

get a picture of what he shipped it in.

if you have a picture of the item before he sent it showing it was not broken that would be good.

picture a box a little longer then a corner lens, but pretty much the exact width. corner wrapped in some bubble wrap, with stuffing at each end of box. It might be my personal opinion that it is important to see something someone bought from me get to them in tact, not just toss it in the mail with some padding and wash your hands of it.

like i said, it was reasonable, but when ship delicate items, you need additional "padded area" in the box for issues like this. would you ship a glass vase like this? anything breakable should be better padded IMO

I don't care the situation, the seller should man up and give him his $28.00. I've sold things on eBay and they've showed up damaged and I did what it took to make the customer happy. It's just a case of respect.

I don't understand. It's the post office's fault, not the sellers. It's not like he's running a Volvo parts business or a similar business that would offer insurance. Whenever I sell something, I definitely package it sufficiently enough to where there shouldn't be any problems. If there is, that's the handler's fault.

Sounds like he packaged it in a reasonable matter, which you already stated. Are you under the impression that a seller is suppose to babysit the shipper to ensure the package gets to you undamaged? He did his job. He reasonably packaged the item, put a label on it, and shipped it you. Unless the item was damaged prior to shipping (which it obviously wasn't), then he fulfilled his part of the deal. He has NO control of what happens to the item after it leaves his hands and is with the shipper.

If he told you he was shipping USPS, it's up to YOU to either let him know you want insurance or to go with UPS/FedEx where insurance is included.

Sorry, but you have no claim against the seller with this. I think it's highly inappropriate you posted this thread bashing the seller for what you thought was "principal" in a low-cost transaction.
