Fudge_Brownie
where would i notice the vibration? It's a $20 part and easy to change, so if you really hate the vibration, pop it out and sell it on here.I just installed mine and while the vibration has increased SLIGHTLY, I don't know what people are complaining about. Besides, if your mount is shot, its probably not going to feel any worse Visual inspection is easy, stick your head near it and look. For extra verification, blip the throttle a bit while watching, or have someone shift between drive and reverse. (Edit, you have manual trans so nevermind) You'll see if its cracked. The "center" piece begins to crack and its contacting points, and eventually will tear itself free and rock around.
SWM
thanks, all this input is appreciated. I read on the IPD site about the vibration too, some people posted it was annoying. I might give it a go anyways, like mentioned, just pop it out and sell it if i have to. Is the OEM rubber mount more difficult for a DIYer? I find these days i'm not about sacrificing ride for performance... My Volvo is 10 years old, and rides REAL tight, so i may not like any added vibrations. Yellow95
with the POLY the engine and the ride just feel more stable... its like adding rigitity to the car... you will like it... get the IPD one.. I got one from eeuroparts.com and it is not the same quality The upper engine torqe arm bushing will have no effect on "ride stability" at all. Only plus for it is that its easier to install. I dont care how easy it is, I dont like vibration in the cabin. I quickly uninstalled my poly bushing.Gary
Fudge_Brownie
The rubber OEM mount needs to be "pressed" in. You could rig up something like two pieces of strong wood, one on either side of the mount and put a fastener through the middle and crank it down to squeeze the wood together (and thus the mount presses into the hole)But The 2-piece poly mounts are far easier :)

7 VII 7
is the OEM mount more difficult to replace?it is 100x more difficult to install than a POLY (if you do not have the tools to do it)I did not want to build a tool to install an OEM bushing if it was just going to failyou could buy the arm with the bushing inside already like OWNED posted... but POLY is the way to goand I did notice stability when I installed my POLY... stability in the engine and acceleration
SWM
i got ya, the recomended one is the poly, im just saying, the slight vibration i have now annoys the stuff out of me, so i dont want to re-create anything like it. Is the arm with the bushing install as easy as the poly install? Also, is this pic correct for these 98s? Seems like a different arm?

Mike_P
I have a gently used poly bushing from FCP that I will give to you for the cost of priority mail shipping. When I removed it and pressed in an OEM rubber bushing (with $10 in hardware store parts) it took 30 minutes. The OEM install is not hard.
