SWM
My hood is in tough shape as far as stone chips and over all condition. Is there a recommended product to help mask the appearance of these and make my hood look a little better? My car is black, so the white stone chips are obvious. We have an amazing detail shop nearby which I plan to let them have a crack at it once the spring fully arrives, but in the meantime, what would work well. I’m not expecting miracles, just better then it is. and for now, im not looking to repaint it
Oreo931
have you looked into touch up paint or langka?Wax isnt going to be able to hide stone chips, it will just remove dirt from them making them less noticeable.http://www.langka.com/
SWM
wow, that langka looks right on, might have to try this. Have you used it before?
matt b
If you plan on having a detail shop fix it, don't make it more difficult by trying to fix it yourself first.

Che'_Moderator
Do you think that product langka will work for these scratches?LOL no.Honestly marking it off and rattle can will do wonders to hid it though. If you really want to fix it you will need to skim it with auto body filler, sand and block it and respray

EddieB
SWM, your only going to make those rock chips more noticable if you wax it. What happens is when you remove the wax it may look good for a day or 2. Then the big blob of wax thats still in the chip will turn white. Like all waxes when they dry they turn white. They will stick out more. Your best bet.... try and do some touch up on the big chips, the less you use the better off you are when it comes to touch up. Then try that new product from Armor all. They say that the wax doesnt turn white when it dries. I do not use this stuff at my shop but thought it was a good idea/ product.Hope this helps

I find that they do the best to help mask stone chips, other than paint.
