Fuel Pump And Relay South Florida

Recommended Posts

What an astute observation DMSEE. I skipped right over the stuff on my way to the 98 and prior too. Oh well, i plead brain damage!

Anybody want to help my son put a new pump in the car if i send it down there?

A relay swap is much cheaper than a fuel pump. Have your son listen for the pump when he turns the key to ON. If he can pull the #103 relay and has a short piece of wire, he can jump it:

Remove the relay (#103) and look next to the pins in the base. Molded into the plastic you should see the numbers 31, 31b, 15, and 87. Fashion a jumper wire and jumper between the socket connections that correspond to pins 15 and 87. If the car fires right up your relay is bad.

Definitely try the trick that Klaus posted above to see if it's the relay or the pump itself.

Please feel free to give me a call or have your son give me a call. I'll help him install it. Cell # is 561 703 3547. Anytime is fine.

Thanks Joseph. His name is Jarod and I'll give him your info. He already listened for the pump and it's not running so he pulled it out. It was all gummed up, so I'm going to fedex him a pump, filter, and relay just to be certain. I appreciate your offer to help, really. Jarod is 25 years old and he's been driving Volvo's since I gave him the first 740 when he was 16.

Anytime Paul. :) Heck, if Jarod already got the pump out then he's all set.:lol:

Always great to hear about other "youngins" that have this in their blood... I'm only 22 myself, and grew up in the back of a pair of 245's, learned to drive on a manual 740 GLE, got my 850, then s70, and now going with a 244 that is 10 years my elder.

Looks like you and my parents started brainwashing us from an early age.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I would venture to say that many of you were "made" in the back of a 245!!!

Both my son and daughter started with the 240/740's.

email me your thoughts on the FCP offerings if you can please.
