hgray14
Cali is a circle jerk. Technically a shop cannot replace a cat unless its older than 10 years old or damaged. Lots of POS cats will throw a CEL. Since you are in PRK I would make sure you get a CARB cat or be prepared for hell. Random comes to mind.I take it a Magnaflow is a not a CARB cat? oh wait! My daily driver is registered in Nervada!!!! Sweet, I forgot about that being that I have been dealing with some many cars these days. So I can put whatever the hell I want because I don't have to get SMOGed where it is registered. SWEET!!!!!!!But thanks for the advice; I will keep that in mind when working on my other Volvos that are registered in the PRK.Houston

rules
Well I don't know much about free flow cats but here is a pic of a standerd one. I suppose the free flow is less dense.http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php?a...si&img=2364

Cal3thousand
In the future, Go to performancepeddler.com and order one on the cheap. Have some exhaust guy install, make sure to pay him CASH.

850maybe
Punching out an operational cat lends minimal if any gains. If the converter is clogged/melted, or has disintegrated internals then you now have restricted flow/less power and punching it out will get you back to where you were.Read this and get back to us:http://www.importtuner.com/fea....html

hgray14
This should work:http://www.importtuner.com/features/0610im...oval/index.htmlThat is a good read. The only thing I wish they would have done differently is to have run a brand new OEM cat. I wonder what kind of advantage the high flows had over the OEM just because of its age. theForgottenone
I'll use a 3" Magnaflow ceramic cat on my DP.For most cars on this board, a good cat should be sufficient and won't hinder any performance but everyone here want to run cat-less. Aequitas_Veritas
Magnaflow sells CARB legal catshttp://www.car-sound.com/02product/02universal.aspwait for it to fully load and click the top center link, on the next page keep hitting continue till you find one you want. I just ordered a CARB legal 3" magnaflow cat, $200, it hurts. Screw calis cat laws.
