Installation: Diy Or Take It To A Shop?

I have no experience in the car audio realm, but I am considering buying a relatively inexpensive setup like the one that bing describes in the thread about setting up good sound for the 850, which includes a new HU, an amplifier for a 12" sub and kick panels. Would I have to take this to a shop, or would it be a fairly easy install to do myself? What risk to I run installing this system in terms of damaging the equipment? I am trying to set up some kind of budget here, so I am totalling up the costs.

if you are just putting in a simple system, as long as you are dcent with your hands, i see no reason not to do it if you get plenty of preparation.

If you do it yourself, you will appreciate it alot more and when something is wrong with it you will be able to fix it.

do it yourself, half of the reason I bought mine was just so I could put one in how I wanted, if you follow the tutorial on how to do it from here it will be sooooooooo easy. good luck, you'll have fun.

I am definitely installing it myself. It looks really easy to do, especially with the wiring harness adapter. I can't imagine the whole process taking too long to do, and after studying the HU guide as well as the subwoofer/amp guide, it does not seem like an extremely difficult thing to do. I am so excited to get my setup!

I did mine my self mainly because I like doing stuff so I get to learn about it too, but also saved lots of money.

Really isn't all that complicated.

How do I take my old speakers off of the head unit? Do I just disconnect them?

if you get a new head unit, you'll use a harness. To use an external amp, don't connect the leads from the harness to the speakers.

if you have a few hours to kill, save a few bucks and do it yourself

its very easy if you have everything set up,

just connect the wires and you're done
