gee man that is freakin awesome, this is the exact same unit I am just about to click buy on e-bay for me! Can you post some more details on mounting on a S70 and some more pictures of the mounted unit?

Did that bezel come with the unit? Is this unit any good? Can you configure the button lights to be green just like our panel?

And by the way great choice on the unit man!

there's no cage included (or needed)

i had to shave down the stock guides until it fit snugly

needed some cardboard to get everything to fit tightly

then i screwed a bracket onto the back to secure it

the trim piece came with it

doesn't look too bad

and you can change the screen colours as well as the illumination/button colours

In regards to the OP, I just did a complete system upgrade on my 1995 850 Turbo Wagon. I basically went through and explained everything I did on a quick web page I threw together, along with pictures.

However, I went back and too the pictures after I was done, so I didnt get any pictures of the head unit cavity, although I removed the speakers to get pictures of how they were installed.

You can view the info here: http://www.blakbyrd.com/Car/index.html

As for installing the head unit. There are 2 plastic rails on the sides of the head unit cavity that prevent you from properly inserting themounting cage for an aftermarket double din head unit. The rails are plastic, and easy to remove with the proper tools. I cut mine out with a right angle pneumatic die grinder and a thin cutoff wheel. They were gone in about 20 seconds. Afterwards the head unit cage slid in perfectly. However, there were no stock locations for fastening the cage in place, nor any holes to use the metal push tabs the cage supplies. So, I drilled 2 small holes in the bottom of the cage and screwed the cage down with 2 #8 machine screws in the bottom, through the plastic. The screws protrude towards the ash tray but do not touch or conflict with it's usage. I did not drill into the upper part because this was actually the bottom of the climate control. Instead I used some 3M adhesive glue (we use at work anyways) to attach it to the top. At that point, I just wired it up, slid the head unit in and popped on the bezel that cam with the head unit and everything fit just perfectly and looks good. The bezel filled up the hole perfectly and looks about as stock as you will get with such ease.

Crutchfield also said there were no double-din units available for my 960. I had to do a bit of trimming after I took old H/U out, but it fit like a glove.

It can be done! I used the cage supplied with my HU. By sanding appx 2mm off of the rails, and notching the cage to snap around the stock rails. I fit my pioneer double din HU in and can still put the stocker back if I so desired. I did a write up on this a long time ago, but I don't know if it's still on the site. Good Luck
