RockyXL
Hey,I just received a used set of ABM projectors, and found something that I need clarification on. It seems as though the projector itself is off center:I have PM'd a couple members running the ABMs before the posting, and it seems that the surrounding white ring on the shroud may not be present on all of the ABM issue lights.Question: Is that white ring seen by other members? Has anyone needed to tweak the shroud to center it? Thanks.
Serge
Try playing with the level adjustment? I am not familiar with ABM projectors, but on a typical projector headlight this would be accomplished by adjusting the up-down and side-to-side levels. I am not familiar with ABM projectors, but on a typical projector headlight this would be accomplished by adjusting the up-down and side-to-side levels.I did try those gears but they didn't seem to move the projector significantly L/R & U/D. Maybe i didn't rotate them enough. Thanks for the help

RockyXL
oh yea with the abm headlights u have to rotate the nobs ALOT in order for them to change just a little bitI just noticed a fat gap:Will mere knob turning fix that? I need to run to autozone and get a 10mm allen socket...Also, which knobs on the back of the ABMs adjust lateral movement? The one on top or back? Thanks. RockyXL
I took the lens off both of them and they both have the gap. the interior units do not seem to be broken--both feel solid and do not jiggle or anything.pics:i'm hoping it's just an adjustment issue...going to get some dinner and stop by autozone for an allen socket...i tihnk it's a 10mm i need? stuff who knows. trial and error.... Chilled man
hmmm cams never had that gap at all(that ive ever noticed) id crack yours apart and make sure they arnt brokenagreed those both see way to far to on side then the other. maybe there adjusted to far
RockyXL
I was thinking about it, and the gap makes some sense: because the lights slope outwards on our cars, the gap needs to be there so the light output remains perpendicular to the road they are pointing at...ie, the output origin should be parallel to the steerign wheell...no?agreed those both see way to far to on side then the other. maybe there adjusted to far do you have a gap at all? '93 Dave
does that make sense to anyone?nope, just turn the nob on the top around and see if that fixes it
RockyXL
the black plastic portion slopes with the curve of the car...at an angle flush to the edge of the hood. If the reflective portion of the highbeam casing were flush with the black plastic, it would be pointed outward; therefore, the gap is there to keep the light output perpendicular with the road. i think that makes sense, and if peopel look at their projectors, i predict that that is what they will find...i'll rethink my theory if someone shows me a couterexample.the off-centered nature of my projector shroud is still a mystery to me.nope, just turn the nob on the top around and see if that fixes itthe knob on the top seems to only dictate up/down movement of the projector shroud. the knob on the back isn't taking my 8mm hex properly right now....
