Seagrams Posted May 21, 2008 Report Share Posted May 21, 2008 what is the chip/flashing going to change from stock? ive seen on this thread 15psi and 17psi i think, what is the stock boost on my car (C70 2.3)? Will getting my ecu tuned possibly damage anything in my engine? Sorry for the dumb ?'s but I don't know much about ecu tuning. I'm interested in this gb but want to make sure my stock engine will be able to handle it.it'll be able to handle it fine. That's the point of getting a tune. It adjusts you software maps (thinks like timing, boost, fuel supply) to be able to safely deliver more performance. Tons of people on this board have used ST programs to great success. HtownTurboBrick Posted May 21, 2008 Report Share Posted May 21, 2008 ecu tuning (standard stage 1 upgrade maps) is the safest way to gain power and reliability and should be the first major mod anyone should do if you want more power. minor bolt on's like intake, FMIC, down pipe and exhuast don't really hurt, and are necessary to see peak gains from a tune. but a basic 15 or slightly more aggressive 17 psi tunes do not hurt. turning up the boost with a boost controller can hurt you more then a tune as you increase the boost, but do not provide the necessary additional air and fuel and even timing to handle it accordingly like a tune does. Sport air filter is the only thing recommended, but those are real easy to come by. like HTown said, other things like exhaust, dp, FMIC etc. only help but aren't necessary. besides if you add them at a later date, you can get the tune updated to make the most of the mods. I thought it was for the 17 psi tune across the board. Why would you choose a 15 psi tune when you could have a 17 psi tune for the same price?
