tallahasseegreys
I've gotten code 241 3 times in less than 2 weeks, so it looks like I've got to do this. I'll be following the directions in the maintenance section of this site (thank you bay 13!). I do have a few questions...1) Do I need to use any gasket seal stuff when I replace the throttle body gasket and EGR valve gasket?2) Looks like this job is a bit easier if the idle air motor is removed. Anything special I should know about removing this sucker?3) What is a good carb cleaner everyone recommends?4) Bay13 states, "I have a wire brush on a drill that I use to clean out the openings on the EGR valve." What size brush is this? I'd like to get one before I start. Thanks!!!
Bay13
1) Nothing needed on the gaskets.2) Yes it's easier, nothing special about taking the motor off, the rubber strap holds it to the stand off, just take it apart slowly so you know how to get it back on. Pay attention to which way the hoses connect. While it's off, remove the rubber hoses and clean out the idle air motor.3) What ever is at the auto store. Our shop uses Gum Cutter 2+2.4) It's about 1/2 inch, but after use it's a little smaller. It came with a handle I just cut it off.
