JBVolvo
sorry to threadjackbut how hard is it to replace the lower coolant hose?as easy as it is to drain the coolant.as always, any job that requires you to do so, it's usually the biggest pain in the ass about whatever job it is because it usually makes a mess and you have to look for a place to dispose of it afterwards.be careful you don't break the petcock - as you'll have an all new job to do.other than that (providing your worm clamps arent toast) its nothing. Worst case scenario you cut the old hose off with a razor knife if its stuck...but it shouldnt be a problem.
Fudge_Brownie
i heard the lower one was really hard? It's just annoying cause you hafta fiddle with all the other hoses down there.
7 VII 7
ok, at eeuroparts... the lower coolant hose is Mackay brand... NEVER heard of them.. that OK? 12.90 for the part
mbsl98
Volvo does a great job with water hoses. I have never had one replaced in over a million miles on various Volvo's, mostly driven over 200K. I have never had service like that with hoses on other makes, so I would only buy OEM for this part.

7 VII 7
yeah, big price difference though... 44$ vs the aftermarket $13 one
WhiteT5
Vernat t-stat is regarded as better. I would go with Behr on the heater core as well. My experience with aftermarket coolant hoses: I believe I had an upper hose made by MacKay. Within 2 months, the inner ply had seperated from the outer and it seriously looked like it could pop at any second and send coolant spewing everywhere. They are bad news. Saving $30 is not worth blowing a HG or having to get the car towed. Both of these will cost significantly more than $30.EDIT: Spelling
