SkyWriter
so, i've heard rhetoric about leaving an automatic transmission sitting on the shelf after an unspecified amount of time may reduce the chance that the device will fail to operate correctly once installed. (like i should come here to combat rhetoric!).so, what would i be concerned with (draining it, storage temperature, humidity, etc...) if i wanted to keep a spare automatic transmission (my current one) while i ran a rebuilt one? i would hate to have my working transmission 'go bad' while i was breaking in a rebuilt performance transmission only to have the spare go bad after a problem developed in the rebuilt one.please no stupid comments about T6 transmissions, i'm sure you understand why. Chilled man
I call bogusness on shelf life of a tranny. maybe if you leave it outside with no oil in and and let rain or dirt get in it sure .but how long do you think some of these trannys sit in a junk yard and then in there warehouse. but if its inside in a non damp room with oil it there should be no reason why when you install it , it shouldnt work .
