Does Anybody Have The Custom Tuning For 16t On Lpt

I've got an UPsolute chip for my 16t....Its the same map that UPsolute uses on the HPT cars. The only true custome chip is if your car is dyno tuned.

Where did you get it from? What was the price? What's the maximum boost? How long have you been running that set up? Any issues?

I think RICA does a map for 16T and LPT but im not 100% on that

You dont need a tune to run the 16T on a LPT engine

Won't run lean? Won't be much of a performance upgrade at 5 psi.

I used the IPD LPT upgrade with the 16T, which brings it up to 10psi (with the BCS) - comes on early & pulled great.

I also tried with an MBC & ran 15psi, but my 4spd auto wasn't happy on WOT shifts.

Now, I'm using the IPD T5 M remap with the 16t, running 16psi. In this case, you have to back off the wastegate actuator to prevent spikes approaching 20psi - takes some fiddling.

I originally send my ECU to Terry at VMS. He uses Upsolute programing chips. He told me the car would boost around 16 PSI with no major boost spikes. He described the tune as having a 2 step set up where it would limit boost to 10 PSI in 1st and 2nd gear. I send him the money and the ecu, didn't hear anything back for around 3 months. I finally filed a claim with pay pal and told him to just stop all work and send the ecu back. He got back to his shop and chipped the ecu anyway. I just got fed up and told him to keep it. The only way I can get it back is to pay 475. I don't know if I should do that. I read that a lot of people on here had problems with VMS and that he may be going out of business soon.

Why are there such high boost spikes? Are there boost spikes with original factory programing also?

I my case it was due to the remap, and they told me that I would need play with the wastegate actuator to compensate. As I said, the higher spikes were prior to adjustment, now it's fine. I don't know if factory mapping creates spikes, I never had a boost gauge & stock setup long enough to pay attention to that. It wouldn't surprise me if there were spikes, but they would be so much lower, given the operating window, that it would hardly matter.

Sucks that VMA burned you that way!

As for the tune, I'm running a 16T on an LPT motor. I'm swapped over to a manual trans so I'm running a stock, manual mapped T5 ECU from a 96. I should be running a 97 ECU soon so that I can have access to my OBDII port again.

I have an AFR gauge and I have never hit lean spots under that set up. Cars hits 10-12 psi all day long and doesn't act up.
