Bad Week Of Maintenance

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am leaving on Sunday for a 4 month internship and at the beginning of the week, I picked my car from storage to do all the maintenance before leaving. My oil cooler hoses were a little oily so I decided to replace them with a used set from a member of this board. The hoses looked clean. I was suppose to install them at the beginning of the week but assholes from FCP screwed on my order and didn't ship the correct cooler seal kit (out of 5 orders at FCP, 4 had mistakes.... can't beat the price!) so I had to wait today to receive them. Now I spent part of the day under the car to replace a front engine mount, cooler hoses + seals, oil change. Started the car after all the work.... oil dripping from oil cooler hoses.

Now, 3 days before leaving, what should I do? Reinstall the old hoses ? Get new hoses made locally from a truck shop?

Should I ask for a refund from the member who sold me the hoses ? Partial or complete?

I don't know what to do... And also, the aligment shop told me my rear delta-link bushings are all worn. They still charged me for a full aligment. And I have received 3 out of 4 wheels I am waiting for. If I don't receive it tomorrow, I'll have to install them in 4 months when I get back.

What a bad week.

Pierre: 3 out of 4 wheels only ? What's the status of the last one ? This is getting old. :(

What hoses are you looking for exactly ? I have some hoses I pulled off the car that I could drop in the mail for you. Just let me know.

Leaking oil cooler hoses are no good. If yours were leaking, they are going to burst eventually. Then you will really be screwed. You can get them from FCP for ~70-90 a piece (i dont remember the exact cost). My advice would be to have them shipped express or something and replace them with new ones. Also, return the hoses you bought from the guy on VS for a refund.
