Anybody Converted Their Fwd Volvo From Bolts To Lug Nuts?

Anyone that has an older Volvo will appreciate the studs vs. lug bolts debate. What a PITA the bolts are especially if your running spacers! With studs you can hang the tire and walk away, try doing that with the bolts. I thought about doing Kaplhenke stud kit but when he never returned my email message 3 months ago, I passed, and now to here he is passing off defective studs NO THANKS! I saw other companys on Ebay that has them and they have hex heads to thread them on to tighten, and were half the price too. And replacing the guide pin is easy with a 10mm bolt, I did that on my 245 and my R.

there have been a few people who have done studs, meh waste of $ imo...

put wheel on, use knee's to hold wheel, insert small flat blade screwdriver, center wheel on hub, thread in 1 or 2 lugs...done

or just get those things IPD sells, just like a piece of threaded rod to center the wheel and hold it in place

switching to studs is the easiest way to make wheel adapting easy. I <3 my wheel studs.

Ben better have fixed my stud issue....will find out when I get home, otherwise I'm going back to my extended lugs, and calling Kaplhenke out all over VS and TB.

Better remind him, he's got the attention span of a newborn.

That Sucks Pras...

I have had a positive experience with them when we did the GB. All the Studs Went in and Stayed in (With LocTite Red)

I only had one issue a few months later, where one stud broke (Which was a PITA to try and remove with heat, drillouts etc., and ended up replacing the entire hub) and Kaplhenke sent me my replacement studs at my cost because I realized that I had not torqued the nuts enough. Ben was courteous to investigate and see why the stud broke in the first place.

Since the replacement, I havent had any problems with them.

huh? did you type that right?

do you have pics?

what had you torqued the nuts to?

could someone smarter then I please explain that please?

not torking the NUTS enough causing ONE of the studs to break?

BTW i drilled my hubs for my 3.5" 1/2" press in studs. and it was a ROYAL PITA

Ben told him that so it must be so. He told me I was wrong to expect my product sooner then 3 weeks after I paid. Who am I to expect product I paid for in a reasonable amount of time.;)

He said the alignment shops were doing it wrong when nobody could align Dough's car with his control arm setup.

I wonder what he would say I did wrong if I told him my camber plate plating was flaking off in under a month of having them on a non-DD car.

Wait, why don't they work?

I have a set in my room right now, and they didn't work. Are the Volvo holes just smaller which makes it so you need to convert?

what doesn't work? the ones that Aaron got were custom made....the ones that Kaplhenke sells were custom made also, but they suck apparently, and were way over-priced.

re: my coilovers and camberplates

those camber plates look nicer than whats on my car :(

Who makes them?

not enough caster

why would you care, you never even got your car aligned.

Finished doing mine lastnight with zero issues at all. I used a baby bottle nipple cleaner to clean inside the threads on the hubs and they went in with little effort. It was sooooo nice putting the wheels back on a car with studs again!
