Can you rev it out of gear? Could be a fuel issue...

Idles smooth and you can rev all you like in Park or Neutral. Rev a little and drop it into gear and she quits. Almost like a switch turns off. The car hasn;t been driven for many months and my son just started it up and threw a fuel pump and pump relay in there about two weeks ago. Since then he's just been driving it around the apartment complex in West Palm, waiting to bring it back to Atlanta to register it up here, (no valid tag). Today he drove it less than a mile and it pulled htis shit at a stop sign.

Will the codes reveal transmission stuff if it is transmission related?

Could it be the pNP switch or whtaever i hear about on the forum?

Like I said, all sticks in my stable, so never had to fight this beast before.

Is the shift light (arrow) in the dash going all wonky? If not, it's probably not the PNP switch. Just for good measure, though, run the shifter from P to L several times in a row, really quickly, maybe about 10 times or so.

OK, the news doesn;t look good. The tranny fluid is dark and smells burnt. No codes from A1,2, 3, 6. It kinda sounds like a transmission went south. Any suggestions?

I may haul it up here to Atlanta on a dolly like I originally intended but then what? I'm sure a shell not dropping a tranny in the car.

Thoughts?

if the maf was unplugged you could get those same sort of symptoms but I would expect to see a code thrown for that

one of my 850 was doing that and you might want to inspect the cv joints and see the condition they are in
