GTGLT
So about two weeks ago I began noticing very rough idle after startup which went away after about 100 yrds of driving. This has progressed so that when I accelerate it is obvious it is starved for fuel, and then she runs perfectly normal after about 1/4 mile of driving. Last weekend I put in a new fuel filter (it was due and I thought it might be restricting flow) and when I used the in-line valve to release the pressure there was zero pressure. What it seems is happening is after the car is shut off the pressure in the fuel line is released back into the tank, so at startup there is no pressure and after a little while it builds and everything is fine.I know the fuel pump is part of stage 0 and needs to be done, but I have heard on here that there might be a check valve in the pump holdster assembly? So when I replace the fuel pump this will remain along with my problem? Just wanted to hear to get some thoughts.BTW - I am planning on the 190lph Walbro unit. Thanks - GTGLT
ErikS
Could be a bad fuel pressure regulator or maybe your fuel pump relay is dying.
Zappo
Yeah, I agree. The pumps just tend to just stop, not work slower.
MrWinkey
I believe the check valve is part of the pump assembly. Honestly that sounds like what is at fault. You may want to also clean the ETM
kilseany
yeah the only notice my fuel pump gave before quitting was it started to get noisier, no loss of pressure. it cried for like two weeks..and i didn't listen!
GTGLT
Thanks for the all the input guys. I have what I thought was an unrelated P1171 problem (I thought it was unrelated because she has been throwing that code for over 6 months and this just started not to long ago). I believe the MAF is responsible for that code and I have one ordered from FCP. What did puzzle me is there was no pressure in the fuel line when I replaced the filter. Will update when the MAF is installed.
GTGLT
So I popped in the new MAF this weekend and BBAAAMMM!!! CEL GONE!! Couldn't be happier, car runs totally different now, although it feels like I have lost some low-midrange power. I will take it though, much smoother, no jerking, no hesitation.CEL for 8+ months...gone!! This is a great day.
MrWinkey
Would have been nice to know you had a MIL lamp on from the beginning? Mechanics are like attorneys and doctors ..we need all the info to make it right?? Glad it's fixed though ;)
