rameok Posted May 14, 2008 Report Share Posted May 14, 2008 So, I managed to get the console off my 04 S80 and run the antennae cable for my Sirius radio behind the console just fine, and cut the adaptor end off the 12V adaptor with plans to wire it directly to the back of the 12V plug on the car.Was just about to hook it up when I realized I had no idea which wire is which on the 12V wire going back to the Sirius.One of the wires is entirely black, one has a white dashed line on it. You shouldn't have done that, the adapter has a fuse inside it to stop it from drawing to much power and frying the unit. Anyway, to answer your question, Black should be neg (ground) and black with white should be Positive. They sell cigarette lighter install kits that have the hole part of the lighter and two wires coming off of it, this would be the safest way to do it. That fuse in the plug is a good idea.
