prasamin Posted May 20, 2008 Report Share Posted May 20, 2008 Most of the time it is around 25-26, but if its cold enough it smacks 28.It is out of its efficiency range..but there is ways to cool off the charge so that it will put out more power then you think. are you using methanol injection? nitrous? even then I would think the turbo compressor wheel would shoot through your firewall at some point....I'm not saying I don't believe you, I'm just saying that compressor maps and science are against you. gdizzle Posted May 20, 2008 Report Share Posted May 20, 2008 I dont know if you heard but on my way to carlisle a guy with a truck backed into my car busting the headlight lens so on friday by the time I had finally gotten to fairgrounds I wasnt about to let anybody pull some type of weak a$$ garbage can $h!t on me. Some members suggested I throw the garbage can at you and your car but I though I handled it well by moving it on my own. F=MxADue to they dyno type Mass is a preset number (aka Roller drum) so by using the wrong gear you significantly increase A (acceleration is faster in 3rd then 4th) the dyno is set to read as close to 1:1 on the rear wheels as possible. We know this as "4th gear" which as we both know is not "3rd gear". It wouldn't matter if the dyno was any other type but given the fact that I know this particular dyno is a 248c nothing else needs to be said. Your shop is staffed with a bunch of retards its pretty simple. Also, your 28psi number out of a 15g is just plain funny as to push that even on a stock motor would just kill the compressor in no time at all.Well, I must have missed this post this morning....but I'm no dyno buff...and I don't act like I'am.....I just know that the business that I went to has been building import cars for years using the same dyno....and one of those dudes even has an 850 turbo that is semi built. I also know that the cars they build that are high horse power get down the 1/4 mile in the times that fit the whp gap and the car being run....and these cars are tuned on the same dyno.... you tend to think they are not a bunch of retards. The dyno they operate on is a Dynojet 224x......not much differant from a 248 from what I understand. 28psi is when its colder out...has to be in the 20s and 30s to see that...most of the time it is 25-26psi......the hotter it is out it will drop to 23-25 I have been running this same turbo for 4 years puting out the same boost....less 5k messing with some other turbos......and still have yet to have a problem with the turbo.....rods yeah...turbo no. When I bent rods on the 1st motor...my buddy Larry put methanol injection on his car with stock rods to see how far he could go without bending them...so he set it up like my car and didn't bend any rods for the 1st year. When he kept on going up in boost he finally bent three rods @ 29-30psi. After that his car has been transformed like 10 times....several differant turbos and tons of tear downs. If you are that same person. You are welcome to have a laugh...I really didn't care till you ran your mouth after I was leaving....like I lied to you. So I just gave you the proof I have. Sorry if I came across as "i must not know how to modify a car "....but I never said that....I think that is just what you wanted to hear so you could have an excuse to be an a** to me. I don't care how you modify your car....everyone has there own way. I was just trying to say it can be done if you do it right.......and some dont think that is the "right" way. Methanol injection will cool the charge down where you can run 25psi without bending rods.....I had bent the rods in the first motor...then I built a motor with H beams in the bottom and ported the head out....flow bench shows 20% more flow. I messed with a couple of differant turbos and couldn't get anything to feel like that 15g...granted never messed with any bb turbos at that time but...I never could see better then 242whp on my t3/t4 with several tunes@ 28psi and on the 18t no better then 250s and since my buddy brian has a 19t at 20psi and could only get 268whp (all on the same dyno and stock rods) then I figured what the hell....I'll stick with the 15g till one of them beats my numbers......
