AC has never worked since getting the car. I measured the gap and it is to spec. I then tried this mod by connecting the two wires in this pic to bypass the thermal switch. The clutch is still not engaging. Any other ideas on how i can force the clutch to engage.

thank you.

I've fought with an air-con doing the same thing long and hard.

2 obvious things to check

- fuse

- connection to the air-con

Mine kept blowing fuses. I found out that the wire leading to the air-con connector was rubbing, and had stripped down to bare wire, shorting out on the chassis.

You could test voltage on the compressor lead with a meter, or try running a positive line direct from the battery and connecting it to see if the air-con unit is faulty, or if it's getting the signal at all.

On bridging the protection, ya, worked great in my car for a while, till i siezed the compressor. It's a nice test, but don't run the car like that for any long period of time.

two questions. How would i run a positive line directly. I mean what is the + and - on the compressor. Second if i cut the wires to bridge the connecting really short how would I connect them back. I think i might have screwed myself on that one.

I went to the dealership today to get my radio code and talked to them about my AC. I feel stupid bet I never did check to see if its charged. Going to fill it up with some red die and check for leaks.

Compressor only has 1 electrical connection. Run a line from the battery (+) to that connection with the engine on. Just watch yourself in those belts. Hard connect to the compressor, and touch the other end to the battery once started. Much safer that way.

You'll hear the clutch engaging, even if there is no gas. But worth checkin anyway.

Pics of your bridge/join would help to see what you've done so I can best describe how to fix it.
