ask bing... the best setup is a good front-stage with NOTHING in the rear.  At most, you want rear *fill*.. not "oh my god all the sound is behind me"  :o

but whatever, you can stick with crappy front speakers, overpowering rears, and your craptastical casettes  :monkey:

Maybe I'm being harsh, but I think it's funny that you are telling me that I'm backwards, when, well, there's no nice way to end that sentence, so good night

Oh no I mean that referring to something as poo is pretty darn funny.

I certainly don't want to do something that results in sounding like poo.

It was meant to be a complement for your humor which practically

made me spit up my coffee at work. I mean I never heard an audiophile

conversation involving the poo factor or poo phase shift. That was all that

was about. :) Humor

That is interesting though. I can understand why kicks would be so important

The stock locations are really poo there is no doubt about that. I guess that is

why I was thinking about filling with the front and driving the rears. I have a sedan

by the way maybe Bings theory is for wagons. To me the chief problem is running

the balance to the right front speaker to even get a stereo image and then hoping that the left rear will compensate for the left channel. That is what I do now

(I put the balance to the right and bring it back to the point where I can just hear

the left channel. Then I notice the left rear and it fills the deal up.

I guess the key is a really good equalizer in these cars. I do think the component

tweeters are needed in this car though to get the sound stage up unless you

have good kicks pointed right up at you.

All I got to say is, get rid of your tapes, and go to CD's.  The qaulity is much better, and it sounds way better.

How do you run your system from a front and back (fader) perspective?

Those 3" in the dash sound good?

Sounds like a good system. Do you have a CD recorder at home

or do you mainly listing to the 6 disc changer?

Maybe I need to suck it up and get a CD recorder. I assume one

can make mixed CD's for personal use, right

Thanks

Do you have a decent computer at home? (over 800MHz) If so, you can get a 52x CD-RW drive for around $40. It's perfect for making mixed CD's.

As for my setup, I run CDT CL-51 components up front (on a Crossfire TEK 75.2 amp) and nothing in the rear. The bass is handeled by a JL 12" and JL monoblock. If I were to do it again, I'd use an eD sub and prolly stick with the JL monoblock.

After running only the fronts for a while, I decided to hook the rears up just to see, and it killed the quality -- I'll be sticking with my front-only setup from now-on.

Your mileage may vary... The only way to know what setup works for you is to try it out.

If you have CD burner on your computer you can burn any music file to a CD. Some CD players wont play MP3's so if you want them to be all MP3's files, you will need a car CD player that will play them. Or you can just burn the music with Media Player, and it will convert them to WAV. files and all will be good.

No I only have a single disc player in my car.
