On Board Autox In My Formula Car

I did push harder in later runs, braking much deeper and not braking at all on some of those sweeping turns during the early part of the course. I'm doing well considering that was only my third event in the car, and I only did 1 event before those in the volvo.

The reason why the transitions may appear rough is that the car has somewhere between 1/4-1/2" suspension travel. Very stiff as the rubber dampers were designed for road racing, not bumpy lots. I've been told my back end has comepletely left the ground over bumps in mid corner by a few people before

Which is why I said you might spin it. :)

Time behind the wheel always helps. I think if you did the same layout next year you could cut 8 seconds off easily. Don't let those heavy WRXs beat you!

No WRX's or evos beat me. And even when I push the car very very hard I have yet to spin it. It's easy to feel when the back end is coming around and apply opposite lock quickly. I don't think there is 8 seconds to be had there. THats a 75HP car that weighs about 700lbs with driver. Turning and braking is pretty good but i'm on cold tires. FTD went to a formula atlantic which has nearly double my power to weight ratio, 10" and 13" tires, and downforce to help him out on this nice open track - he was only about 7 seconds ahead of me.

I did improve about 2 seconds on this run with my 4th run.

thats pretty awesome.

not sure about the video effects.

so is 440 the size of the engine? and is it related to a snowmobile engine?

There aren't any video effects. Thats just a kodak point and shoot camera bolted onto a mount i made at the top of my roll hoop.

The engine is a kawi 440, a 30 year old snowmobile engine. Drivetrain is all from the snowmobile.

Ok, then what did beat you? Are there a lot of open wheel cars there?

It seemed to me you were part throttle in some of the sweeping corners where you could have been on it more if you aren't afraid of the rear coming around. Maybe it was the sound from the camera that gave that effect.

I was beaten by 2 drivers in this DSR

2 drivers in this formula atlantic (FTD)

an STI in the SM class with tons of suspension, brakes and engine work

and 2 drivers in a V8 Emod racecar

The last 2 cars were less than 8 tenths ahead of me in time. Definately shouldn't have lost to those 2 drivers. A perfect drive in my car probably would have netted me another 3 seconds or so.
