jroot
My sunroof does not open at all anymore and I can't seem to get a grip on the problem. It started out by only going up and down slightly (not all the way) and not being able to slide back. Then it eventually wouldn't do either.I've removed the motor to inspect and it seems fine. When pressing the sunroof button with the motor out the center piece spins (I assume that means it's working?)...The strange thing is when I have the motor installed and I press the sunroof button, it just clicks and then stops (for either sliding back or going up/down)..I'm thinking it could be cable problem, motor is not strong anymore (if possible), or something is stuck somewhere preventing movement of the sunroof.Any comments appreciated. Thanks

Boost_Junky
Sometimes when a motor is bad it will spin with no load on it but not spin under load. If it isn't that check the track, make sure it's not caught up.If is isn't the track check try the switch itself.
Modus
I had sunroof problems when the gasket around the glass separated in the rear. I parked on a hill rear up. The rain water would flow across the roof into the gasket and not drain out the front holes. The water would drip inside the car at the center lights. This is exactly where the optical sensor is for the sunroof. I screwed it up when I tried opening it one day when it was wet. It seemed to have lost it's home position and I could never get it closed again. When I pressed the button it would click forward a few times then back all the way. Over and over. I had to manually connect the motor to the car battery to get it closed.I'd say check your optical sensor. Close your sunroof all the way manually how I described. Need 2 people for this. Take out your sensor and move the little wheel the direction for closed. or till It can't move anymore. Install and see if that works.I had this problem once it's a PITA but rewarding. If I have time I could do a post later on in the week with pics.
