GTGLT
So a finally solved a P1171 problem I have had for months by replacing the MAF (I spent hours and hours hunting down vacuum leaks and never found one). Anyhow the car is running much smoother, starts great, idles great, etc. But... it seems like almost all my low-mid power is gone. When I really get into the car feels like it is pulling harder (than when the CEL was on), but driving around town or on the highway it feels very sluggish compared to before, like I am not getting any boost (or as much as before). Also my mpg has dropped from 27-28 hwy to 23-25 hwy (which I think is more normal for this car).I like the way it is running and not looking at the CEL all day but lower mpg and less power, what gives?BTW: It is a 99 V70 LPT with ~115k, stage zero done (except fuel pump). DonutsDemise
you didn't put 19" wheels on it by any chance did you? but seriously, what else have you done to the car in this time? try changing the air filter.
--Aaron--
i bought my 98 S70 LPT in a sluggish state as well, the major things that helped in my opinion were as follows: most important plugs, cap, rotor, wires, very careful inspecion of charge pipes/hoses...replace/upgrade as needed, upgrade vacuum lines to silicone, QBM CBV diaphram upgrade, clean air filter/open air intake system, i went with an MSD ignition coil upgrade as well, but honestly other than the sharp look under the hood, not much difference was noted with it, last thing that REALLY helped were replacing the main motor mounts, gotta have a good harness on that powerplant might wanna consider a vacuum/boost gauge as well....that will tell you when to inspect anything in the turbo chainthats what brought my boost and pep back to spec....hope that helps a little, good luckPS i believe the mpg ratings are 19/25? somewhere around there so i'd say you're good and the LPT is only rated to perform about 5 to 8 lbs of boost careful not to confuse its capability with any HPT, get it healthy and you can def feel it pull the car though :)
GTGLT
Nothing else done to the car -- a few weeks before I replaced the MAF I did put in a new air filter (along with dampers, spring mount, etc.) and did Seafoam. It's a 99 so no rotor, wires etc., but the plugs are very new (less than 3k miles). Is it possible that with the P1171 code it could have been running lean, which would explain the drop in MPG, but would running in the lean condition given me more low-mid power? Maybe this is how it was supposed to feel all along? Sorry for the ignorance but I bought the car in this condition and am not familiar with what normal is.(Don't get me wrong, it pulls very strong WOT, but the loss of low-mid power is significant). Also forgot to mention I did upgrade to silicone vac lines about a year ago... GTGLT
And I just replaced the upper motor mount with the ipd poly bushing...
volvos60t5x
Do a search on the forum for that code, can be, fuel pressure, leak somewhere in the exhaust, etc, maf, o2 sensor. A good test should be putting a boost gauge and see if there is boost problems when the problems appears.
dmelviØØ7
The adaptives should be reset when replacing a MAF. Unplugging the ECM will do it, unplugging the battery for a bit might do it.
Y2kV70R
Adaptives are not located in the ECU, they are in the TCM, and the TCM has to be unplugged for a long time (more than overnight) to reset it. I finally gave up on trying to reset mine by disconnecting and had it done through VADIS.-Shane
