toml77
I am removing the valve cover from my 2000 S70 and there is something hanging up in the vicinity of the variable valve timing solenoid. (near the timing gear) I have removed the solenoid and the cover is lose from three of the guide pins but won't lift high enough to clear the right rear pin. I don't want to damage anything by forcing it. Is there something else I need to remove? Is it necessary to remove the tining gear? I just replaced the timing belt and since then the turbo seal blew die to clogged oil passages. The engine is loaded with gunk, and I am cleaning it up.Any tips are appreciated.Tom

Guest Guest_Tom_*
When all else fails>>>>I should have used it. The engine is crap. Never saw such a mess. Now I know the reason for no oil pressure and clicking valves. Half the valves were not getting any oil. The oil passages in the cover were clogged with sludge.I am going to replace it. Too bad I can't go with a newer engine. I think there's a chronic problem with the 2000 S/V 70 engines. I should have checked it over more before buying.
