I Need A New Tint Job

Recommended Posts

I got quoted at $190 for my car, 300 seems a bit steep (unless your other rides are an SUV and a minivan or something...)

Still trying to decide if I'm gonna get tint, especially after my friend backing out of a buddies driveway tonight and not seeing a dodge ram because of his dark tint and messing up his car (Audi A4, who cares, everyone and their mother drives one)

I bet you are forgetting that you need a special tint because the s80 (just like my 01 s80, and my current 05 s60) have an internal antenna and if you use metallic tint it will block you from being able to listen to your AM stations, and XM/sirius stations. I was a retard and have regular tint put on my s80, and I had no AM. Needless to say I was pissed because the tinter failed to explain this to me.

Make sure you ask/mention this to whomever is tinting your car.

You just have to make sure that you tell them to use a non-metallized film.

CERAMIC 60

Huperoptik. Piece of film cost $60 just for windshield

I know 60% is very light and I like the look and idea of it. Do you keep your dash lights dimmed? On a dark night with no street lights, a little bit of interior light, and you could have a reflection problem.

I personally run 20% on the sides, and 10% on the back. That way the darkness look the same when you look from the rear to the front, as it does from the sides. From the sides you're looking thru 2 layers of 20%, from the rear you're looking thru 1 layer of 10%. You can use this formula with 35% on the sides and 15% on the rear as well.

It lets 60% in and you can see very clear

Your 20% allows 20% so...

I don't have any on my windshield.

so...

I've been a key grip in the commercial industry for many years. Much of my work are car commercials. I deal with custom tint on a regular basis.

with any tint on any glass... the side with the most light becomes reflective. This technique is called ghost glass and has been used in film and theater for years.

Like I said earlier. I like the look, but. Do you keep the inside of your car dark at night (ie no dash lights, bright cell phone screens, bright nav screen?) Do you drive on very dark roads at night? I would consider these things before tinting my windshield.
