Manual Tranny - Reverse Light Contact

Hi,

Would be interested to know if anyone has come across this situation and if so how was it repaired. As you put the transmission into reverse a metal slide or contact pushes on the reverse light switch and activates the reversing lights. What has happened is that this metal slide/contact has,what is seems had a groove worn in it and hence when reverse is selected the lights will no longer activate.

I know you all may be thinking it is the switch however if you hold the switch and press on the contact to complete the circuit the lights will activate. When you reinstall the switch back onto the transmission it will not operate due to, what I think is the groove worn in the contact/slide!!!

The transmission is less than 5 yrs old and has done approx 50000kms was a new unit that was installed when my last transmission developed a leak and was deemed to expensive to repair.

Knowing that it could cost me another new transmission(hope not) I was hoping that someone may have had a similar problem and hence may have a solution!!!!

I know may of you in the US only have auto's but from what I have read it seems as though there are plenty of manual swaps around these days.
