My Weekend Road Trip Across The Us And A

Recommended Posts

So last week my friend calls me and asks me if id like to drive to San Diego to deliver a car and a dog to his mothers boss. Ive always wanted to drive cross country and see what else is out there, so I happily accepted the offer and we took off Saturday morning around 10am from my house in Boca. I dont have to many pictures from the first part of the trip because there really isnt much to see from here to at least the middle of Texas.

This is in between San Antonio and El Paso. This is when the drive started to get more scenic. A lot more hills and wide open spaces.

Made it to El Paso late Sunday night. I was planning on meeting up with Nathan (TurboMoose) but I was on the completely other side of town from where he lived and it was around 12 when I got there anyway. My hotel was right on the border of Mexico as you can see in the pic.

I stopped for some gas and took some pics of the truck at a random gas station. This was on I-8 in the middle of freakin nowhere. I was extremely relieved for this place casue my lunch was givin me the worst stomach ache and this place had the cleanest bathrooms ive ever seen :monkey:

So we get to the house where we were staying and its nothing short of amazing. The house is an Italian style farm house sitting on 2 acres. It has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms plus a guest house.

Looks like a fun little trip. That house is gorgeous but Im not sure I would want to live in such a dry climate. I love the fact that my lawn is green. 2 acres and an enormous house would be a great compromise though.

the weather is pretty nice there most of the time. it was around 75 in the day and 65 at night. id rather live in that climate than hot nasty Florida any day haha.

man, this is really great! Too bad all the fun in El paso was across the border :) I would love to do the same, but I can't sit in the car for more than 12 hours. Wasn't it cheaper to put a car on car delivery truck, especially with car like Range Rover.

How many days it took you to drive to California?

Here's a better one.

I've driven Houston to Seattle four times. XC trips in a car are getting rarer and rarer. Looks like you had a good time. Always nice to have a companion for the journey as well.

Looks like a lot of fun. I would have done that in a minute.

I'm impressed the Rover made it the whole way without breaking down. Rover forums are nothing but sad tales of heartache and applying the lemon law.

well they would have had the truck shipped but they still would have had to find a way to get their dog out there too. With the cost of shipping both of them is was actually more expensive and driving. It took us 3 days to get there stopping in Louisiana and Texas.
