Baker, I also feel that I must give my opinion here.

You MUST get compression and leakdown numbers. You CAN NOT trust the Volvo Dealer, because in all honesty they should have given you definite answer with Empirical evidence to support their diagnosis. Just because they said it doesn't mean it is the word of God, you need to get a second opinion with the research done to support your claims. Although, If you still have a copy of the Repair Order from the Dealer, it would be worthwhile to Re-Read and transcript it here, especially Technician notes/data (if they actually did research it, you know :P )

Also, these oil leaks you have; where are they coming from, can you see anything? If we had any details or pictures maybe we can help you identify the problem and give further insight.

Just had to get that across, it seems there aren't many real answers in this thread, just a lot of speculation around a broken engine, no offense.

14 pages of dragging someone through the dirt with no evidence. Wow, way to tread a fellow Volvo enthusiast.

i think 14 (15 now woot!) pages and two long threads is very good for the vs community. i know a lot of people are going to think twice before trying something shady if they know that people will speak up about it and that their reputation will be ruined.

it also re-enforces that the buyer and seller both have responsibilities to make sure a transaction goes smoothly. i can't think of anyone on these boards who wants to end up in the situations recently discussed at such great length. it never hurts to have examples of how not to conduct your business and just how screwed you can be.

and i suspect these reasons are why the thread hasn't been closed yet.

i do admit this whole ordeal is kind of shady, but an engine is an engine, there are no warranties and lets face it, 90% of the cars on this board don't run like they should run.

you bought if off a member, not VMS or doug.. although both are pretty bad examples. I hope you learned your lesson when ponying up such a large sum of cash that without proper inspection of an engine you may not want to put all your eggs in a single basket next time.

Just from reading this Boomin850 character "For Sale" ads, clearly showed he was out to make bank.

His KW's (he's the 2nd owner) From one car- to his car- TO Another car...for $1,250 (IPD had them for sale for $1,400+) haha.

He told me that they only have 10k miles on them (I think 10K is his favorite #?)

I wouldn't let this kind of sh*t slide. Then again that's just me.

And this fool is in hiding...man...I smell pu$$y

I'd love to see this guy in San Diego for the So Cal Euro Meet. HAHAHAHA

First off, people that claim that I am really Boomin under a different username are wrong. Run an IP check, I'm 40 miles south of Boomin, although I did long on through my iPhone to check the thread last night on his wifi.

So let me sum this up. You were at his house, using his internet service, to access this site on "your phone".

For real....Boomin needs an arse beating to say the least.... Then again, if Mike hit him, Boomin would probably try and make some type of monetary gain off that as well lol.

I can anwser that, yes. This guy Mr.Mattson is sitting with Boomin. Just like when someone is scared and they have their friends do the talking.

Boomin could have some valid points but he will not express them. He has his money and that to him is worth more than respect and doing what is right.

Sounds pretty right to me. i know, everythings about honour to me. I have told users to FK off and have nvr spoken to them again.

Make sure you tell that person what he or she is getting into before someone buys your headache. Don't try to dump it off to an unsuspecting individual like boomin did to you. I'm not saying you have or have not already told someone on SS via a im etc., but do disclose that info to them.

Only reason I say anything is because there was a guy who posted something to the affect of "PM sent, I want to buy your car" and you have only mentioned paint scratches, no odometer or speedometer working. After reading this 15 page fiasco, I feel there is more wrong with it than that, and i'm sure you can agree. Not your fault, but do what is right if you haven't done so already. ;)
