Another Boomin850 Problem

Given that the engine had already been broken in, it wouldn't hurt a thing.

It would if Baker was warned the car was low on coolant/water, and to either take it easy on the way home or go put some in the car before driving it hard. Apparently he was too much in a rush to leave to do the later. In addition, even if the motor is broken-in already, doesn't mean it's ok to go WOT with a fresh install. It's been seen here time and time again that amount of work that goes into these motor installs, and sometimes parts are overlooked or parts break loose and need to be retightened, any of which can lead to damage if the car is driven hard.

That would be nice to see.

yeah, atleast it would tell you if it's an internal problem or what....i've never heard of such an issue, but it's possible...most builders check clearances with pistons in hand....

i remember Wiseco/R-Sport sending a spec sheet with the pistons....i know mine doesn't leak a drop of oil or coolant or anything else, nor do I have any piston slap or blow-by issues...

So lemme see if I follow:

*You come to defend your good friend, but you refer to him by his username the whole time, even when we all know his real name...

*You say you come here on your own but your first post is to defend him. FWIW, there's nothing wrong with defending your friend, just don't try to play it off like it's no big deal.

*There are significant arguments to the idea that an engine SHOULD be driven @ WOT from the get-go. I won't get into that argument here, but do some research.

True, but he didn't want to confuse Baker with Booming. alright. I will say it again, now some random people will start defend Mike (boomin), unless he will get his ballz together and will post here, this thread goes to nowhere.

anyone know where Mike is? i think he moved to school or is moving to school or something....i don't think it'll get anywhere even if Mike (Boomin850) comes on....i mean, bottom line is money's been paid, people are dissatisfied, and not much else can be done. we can keep going on and on, but even if all the parties come on and put in their .02, then it's still not going to resolve anything.

what's been done outside of VS seemed to be a sufficient effort, and it didn't work, so I think what's done is done. same thing that happened to me with VMS, and the engine build.....you just have to take the hit, put it behind you, and move on.

That would be nice to see.

Only way I would believe dealer that engine was installed wrong would be if head had been pulled or leakdowm and compression numbers were available.

as much of an ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD i come off as, i am viewing things from a neutral perspective. plus, it's the internet, so who cares. i like egging you guys on. it makes this place more interesting. i especially like egging on people who start coming up with stuff out of no where hint hint Ilya aka self proclaimed famous VS'er! :P

man, 2nd day of Pras is going nuts. You don't egg anyone over here, I would say you are pissing more people off with defending Mike, even you probably understand that Boomin Mike screwed people over. and It wasn't my fault that Gary revealed my true name :) and it was a joke about being "famous vser"

haha, and you still seem to think i am going crazy or i really care....i did put a :P there lol. i don't know that anyone did anything to anyone, just like everyone else on this board...you can make judgements by hearing one side of the story, and even 2 sides of the story, but you still will never know the entire truth....let me go back to OJ getting acquitted. we can go back and forth for days, but if you look at it from a neutral perspective, you will see the real solution at this particular point in time.

if we could change time, or go back in time, it would give us more solutions, but at this very point in time, what's done is done....we can keep telling each other what should happen, or we can just move on!

Exactly. I didn't want to confuse people since the both have the same name.

Ok, I just want to say I have no problems with anyone here, except Baker's ethics. It is pretty much agreed that he paid $5000 for the engine. It was agreed to be installed as well, but who honestly wont even offer a slice of pizza to help out with the install. There was like 5 of us helping him out and honestly we all had pretty much no motivation to work on it. I just would think it was common courtesy to at least offer to get us some grub. But whatever, I mean its no big deal.

Here are the two ways I see it.

As a personal affair, it really sucked and sucked hard. Everyone was being pressured to finish the install that one night. We went to sleep for 4 or 5 hours and then got up and to work again. There was problems with Bakers old manifolds and EGR so Mike hooked him up with his. Baker didnt think he needed new fluids so when everything was ready to go back in we still had to go out and buy them. Dont get me wrong, it was a fun experience, it was just a lot of work, especially to be free work. The first time the engine went in, no leaks, nothing as far as that is concerned. We thought it was gravy, then the tranny wouldnt work at all. Mike then went on a search to see what was wrong, he called everyone he knew and everything (as we both saw it) had been installed right. Which only left the transmission, so he asked Baker. It so turns out that the transmission had slipped "once" before and it could very well be that putting new fluids in could have damaged it. So thats what we thought had happened, and if so chale on Baker for not saying so, and also chale on Mike for not asking him, given Bakers lack of knowledge about everything. So before we found out it could have been a tranny problem, Mike was gonna fix it for free. After it was figured out Baker's lack of information could have been the cause, the situation went down hill. Mike no longer wanted to work on the car, and rightfully so, and especially did not want to fix it for free. So he said he would try to source him another '95 tranny but that wasn't going so well so it just came to the 97 tranny since Baker just wanted his car back. Now, both parties knew that the odometer and speedometer werent going to work because of the difference in years, and I guess that was fine since Mike just wanted to get rid of the car already and Baker just wanted it back. So he was rushed to put everything back in and just gave it back to Baker. No surprise that there were leaks, etc.

Now as a business affair

If Mike did in fact break the transmission, chale on him. If Mike knew his engine was bad and sold it any way, chale. If Mike didnt do as good a job on the second time he swapped the engine on, then chale on him too. If I were in Bakers position, I would probably be reacting the same. Albeit in a different way.

Like I said, I like Mike, but if in fact he did mess up, he should've fixed it. And BTW, defending Mike isnt the same as choosing sides, as Pras stated before.

So baker thought he didn't need new fluids...and you put them in...and you think that might have damaged it.

hmm

And if it was agreed that he was paying 5000 for the engine, and it was agreed to be installed as well...

Wait, you're bitching about not getting a slice of pizza? Get off your fat ass and go tell Mike to explain his side of the story, he is long overdue here.

Quoted for poking truth. I couldn't have said it better. Bottom line is, what's done is done. I LOL at Baker looking for legal action, what a waste of money. Everything was sold as is, no warranty, etc.

hmm

i think he was saying that baker didn't buy new fluids or didn't think of that.....they had to go out and buy the fluids....don't know what that has to do with anything.

i hope that they didn't put old fluid back into everything.
