yeah but he wants the tranny from one car put in the other then the other one put in that one so swapped around

just a manual swap is easy but for this I will have to pull wire harnesses from the auto and the manual and keep them on the engine.

what i am not sure is can you go from manual to automatic ?

Actually theaft recoverys are that big of deal .

All it means that the car was away from the owner for more then 30days and the inusrance was paid out to the owner and then the car was found.

I have had 2 theft recover cars and they were some of the cleanest cars I owned didnt have the samll issues that the flood damaged ones did.

Personally I view it foolish to be affriad of a Flood Damanged or Theft Recovery .

All it is is ingnorance on peoples part of not understanding how either cars work or how the insurance system works and why certian cars are labeld certian ways.

Zohan, you want 2 grand for labor?? Holy crap man. I didn't even want to accept money from Big Will's swap but he insisted...so I got a set of snow tires mounted on rims that he had in his garage that I'll give to my dad.

Yeah 2k its a PIA espically since I will have to swap both not just one but two cars engines and trannys.

I dont mind doing lights , rims steros small stuff for free or beer but this is not a little bit of work

And this is him dropping both cars off and then come getting them when there done .

That and I NEED MONEY starting a new buisness is not cheap nor alot of money in it.

If he was doing it at his house then I would help for a weekend or a day for free but for me to do all the work it cost .

I did adams for free and nothing against adam or his car it just turned into to much of a PIA for free.

Its that or he pays a dealer to do ;) I think 2k is cheap to pull tranny from one car put it in another car and that that cars tranny and swap it into another one along with swaping pedals center console and every other little part and odd and end to get it to work.

would you rather pay me 2k to do and I know what I am doing or some independent shop 3-5k if not more and then have no clue what there doing ?

Hey I am not doing any more work for free espcially this hard its just not worth the hassles .

Help out at his place for a weekend or day sure no problem , but do all the work $$$$$

I just wanted the OP to have some additional information, and since I have a carfax account I thought I'd help especially given the amount of money and work he was talking about putting into this car. Take it or leave it....that's why I said "if you care".

Oh not attacking you at all , what you did was very very helpfull just some people dont know the true reason for why certian cars have those lables attached to there titles.

I'd much rather do it myself man. To be honest with you, the ONLY thing I've ever outsourced was an alignment....that's it. But still, 2k is quite a bit of money man, I mean, who doesn't need money these days....but I'd at least be willing to give a brother a break you know?? I'd feel uncomfortable taking that much money.

YOU offered to do it for free. I really appreciated your help, but I just wanted to get that out there :D.

And also, nothing to do with Justin, but I would advise against having another VSer or friend do this kind of work for you. It has nothing to do with any individuals, but if anything were to go wrong it is just too much of a liability. It is the reason that shops have insurance, access to every tool, etc etc. Look at the worst case scenario for example that happened with me and Justin. The engine he installed for me turned out to be completely fcked. Thankfully he was able to tow it to my house for free, but I had to remove the old engine, buy a new one and install it myself. I lost over a grand because of this, and I was out a car for almost two months.

This is just me talking from personal experience.

Another good example is this whole ordeal between Mike and Baker (boomin850 and mbaker). Boomin installed an engine into mbakers car and one party was not satisfied for various reasons and it turned out to be a very expensive, angry ordeal.

You really have to be careful when going about stuff like this.

1000% agreence with adam ;)

Now if he gets the tools at his house I have no problem comming down for the weekend and getting 90% of it done.

Just supply pizza and appletinis

Shoot I would even do the pedal swaping stuff since that is the hardest thing to do

Didn't know an 850 turbo came in 2.4litre!!?? :(

Seen all pictures of the car yet?

I have a stage 3+ clutch I've been wanting to throw away if you care.

actually they did. the 2.4L were the glts with the lpt.

but did they have those in 96?

no. i haven't. i have to email the guy lol.

me and my lazy ass.

Just in case you care, that car you linked on craigslist was on a salvage title at one point, it was a theft recovery and carfax is also warning about "title washing".

-Chris

shit. but from reading the rest of the replies, it seems, sort of valid. considering its $1500.

and thanks for the heads up man. appreciate it.
