WhiteT5
As requested, here are some pics of the beam pattern and how the headlights look up close and from a distance. It was misting outside, but you can get the idea.
drPheta
Sweet, How's the pattern on the road? Is it brighter than E-Code/DOT?
swdracr
those are step 5 on my cosmetic to do list. then HID's. I'd love to see pics of the black bezel + hid's if someone ever gets them.I think I remember reading somewhere that HIDs don't go well with these lights.. I could be wrong though. Something about really bad glare.
Sadude
I am not sure that the bulb size is 9005/9006. When I got ecode housings a while back they updated the bulbs to H1 and last time I checked in reference to these jewel style headligh housings in the regular non-black style they were H1 also.My best bet is these are also H1 bulbs for low/highAlso the corner bulbs sizes change since it is a dual bulb design. Lower is 1156 and upper is like 67 or
The Stig
These lights are 9005/9006, just like the clear jewels.
WhiteT5
I definitely noticed a difference in the beam pattern on the road. I was always complaining with my OEM headlights that they didn't put out enough light and I tried different bulbs and everything. These project farther ahead and wider out to the sides than the OEM headlights. I'm told they project about the same wide angle as the E-code lights, but project a bit further ahead. Plus, they look really cool. And yes they are 9005/9006 setup.
bitjockey
Wow, that beam pattern is nasty. I bet that glares other drivers something awful. Back to my projector retrofit, I suppose.
Sadude
you guys sure that the bulbs are 9005/9006 since i bought some clear jewels from engstrom motorsports and they were H1
WhiteT5
I am certain that they are 9005/9006. I've had to buy them twice. I had them on the car when I was hit by a %!#* in a Ford on the front right qp. It busted the corner lamp and headlight, and dented the fender. Her car was totalled (she deserved it). But anyways, when the car was fixed, I ordered from the same place I ordered from the first time, VPtuning and it came with the same headlight configuration, 9005/9006. George @ ViVA
Hi all,There are actually types of headlamps produced that are 'Super Clear'.One is made for the US/North American market and is DOT approved and thus have 9005/9006 bulbs, and another for the European market with H1 high/low beams. Of course the beam patterns will be different based on the market the headlamp was made for.vptuning.com sells the DOT spec headlamps to reduce any issues owners may have with local lighting regulations. However, we can also get the European spec headlamps on a per-order basis. The darkened ' Super Clear' headlamps also come as DOT spec and European Spec. We will by default sell the DOT spec units in USA, but can get the European spec headlamps on a per-order basis. The turn signal lenses for the darkened Super Clear headlamps however are European spec only, implying there is only one, single filament bulb. Where in Europe it blinks "on off on off", and in America they blink "dim on dim on".Additionally, I don't think those pictures do the light patterns any justice. If it's raining out and u are not on an open road, they look wierd. They look more different than the light patterns I have seen myself. Make sure your bulbs are flush with the surface of the inner headlamp as well.I hope this clarifies some of the questions raised in this post!
