tdk
I recently got a 2000 S70 in need of some repair. The air bags are not blown, but the SRS light comes on, blinks once, then stays on. Where do I look first? How do you check codes on these cars? thanks

mr. volvo
Where is the air bag module located? How do I know if the sensors are good?in the center console. you dont, without testing with extremely specialized equipment. if you dont have vadis or vida, and the special tools need, you better take it to a dealer. blown bags are expensive and dangerous. the passenger side kills the dash, and the windshield, you know. mr. volvo
unplug batterie airbags disarmed partially... the srs control module contains a standby power unit. and you still cant diagnose the system properly without the aid of a proper scan tool, and test resistors. just trying to help. MrWinkey
Welcome Tim 20 years or so professionally on my end . Last 15 self employed mainly on Swedish stuff. With recent changes in the industry(especially Saab) I'm thinking of promoting myself to Wal Mart assembling bikes and lawn mowers. As stated already it's always nice to have/add someone with good/professional shared knowledge here. I've been here for quite a spell and enjoy it. Either way welcome and don't let the youngin's beat ya' up too bad! ;)

Either way welcome and don't let the youngin's beat ya' up too bad! Thanks everyone for the replies. Unfortunately the 1998 parts car I bought is a different module. Of course I find this out after dissembly of both consoles. I guess I'll have to take it to a Volvo dealership...2 hours away...can't get a rebuild inspection until the SRS light is fixed....can't drive it to the dealership until it passes inspection. If I find one (SRS module) at a salvage yard, can I swap them?
Chilled man
you shouldnt need the SRS light cleared to pass inspection I havent If your rebuilding the car and there just doing a visual just unplug the light :)
