GregD
Hi,I just finished repairing the coil pack harness on my newly acquired V70. The PCV system has apparently been puking oil under the cover (from the filler cap?) which destroyed the insulator boots on the coils. After cleaning everything up, I replaced all of the disintegrated split loom on the harness. In the process, I neglected to mark the connectors as they looked like they could only reach a given coil. Not so! Now it won't even run and I see no easy way to resolve this. I tried looking at GF's '99 S70 but those coils have 4 wires going to each whereas the '01 only has 3. Each coil has 2 larger wires (gray and black?) and one smaller wire. The large wires carry the 12V to each, I's sure, and the small one is the trigger wire unique to each cylinder. I need the colors of the trigger wires from left (pass side) to right. Pretty sure the first one is purple and the next is blue as those can't be mixed with the rest. It's the 3 on the driver's side that are mixed up, I suspect. You don't need to unplug anythig, You can see the wire colors just by removing the covers over the coils. Turbo guys are exempted from this request as the pipe over the top makes it a PITA. Alternatively, if someone has the wiring diagram from the VADIS, that will work to.TIA
Chilled man
Does the car not start or what or does it misfire bad. And I agree with you there is no way you can put those in wrong ;)
GregD
Does the car not start or what or does it misfire bad. And I agree with you there is no way you can put those in wrong It barely starts, misfires badly and stalls. Believe me, after redoing the harness, it's a lot less obvious what goes where. :(

MilesC70
I had a oil filler cap with a gasket which was letting trace amounts of oil out nd it ultimately killed one of my coil packs. The oil went under the cover and leaked into cyl 3 and fried the wire and I was only firing on four cylinders. I just but new wires and a new filler cap.
