Last week I just bought a 2008 V70 for my wife. She loves it!
Today I crunched the passenger side lower tail light. I found a replacement light at myswedishparts.com for $136 plus $16 shipping. Is this a reasonable price? Based on ebay it seems about average.

Can anyone recommend them? If not then where do I go to order another tail light?

I ordered the P2 FMIC front Kristian (VS username Sconeman) when he debuted the kit on a GB here on VS. Fit and finish was absolutely outstanding and the performance gains were as advertised. Snabb has excelled at making quality performance parts for the Volvo niche market. A co-worker of mine has the short throw shifter installed on his 98 T5M and raves about it! Looking over his shoulder during install I can say that everything from the product the the instructions were spot on.

Last week I had a customer bring his P2R to the shop to have the Snabb FMIC kit installed on his 04 S60R. Unfortunately he forgot to order the V-band component needed to make the kit work on the 04-05 models. I contacted Kristian and he had one in the mail same day for overnight delivery via USPS. The customer is ecstatic and will receive the car back on time as promised. I cannot say enough great things about Kristian @ Snabb!

I wanted to make this thread to make others aware of my recent and rather unpleasant experience with Jasper Offroad.

September 5th I ordered some lights from jasper offroad (which, on their website, said were in stock). After placing my order, via their website, I never heard from them again.

-Almost a week after my order was placed I tried contacting them because I never received a tracking number. Initially, thinking my order had not shipped yet, I wanted to add a few more lights to my order. After a couple days I quickly gave up on that idea.
-Tried calling the number on my email invoice Wednesday (9/11) and got a sprint voicemail box that was full.
-Sent them an email that same Wednesday as well, but never got a response.
-Followed up again Thursday (exactly 1 week after my order was placed) and still no response.
-Also Thursday i sent them an email through their website (instead of directly) thinking my email may have gone in the spam folder. Still no response.
-Sent them another email through the website Friday the 13th, sent them a message on facebook, and tried calling again and left another message (this time the box was not full). Still no response.

****Every time I tried contacting them I left my name, order number, and phone number so they could get back to me. Which of course they never did.

-On the 13th I started a thread on TacomaWorld asking for help from anyone that could get me in contact them. Even after 3 days of not being contacted back all I wanted was a tracking number.

On 9/13 I opened a paypal dispute.

At this point I was pointed towards ExploringNH forums from someone on tacomaworld and was told Shawn aka rubicon was a co-owner. I created an account and pm’d him on the 14th. He replied back to me on the 15th and I responded back with my number. He called me back within a day, which I was thankful for after failing to gain contact for days already. He told me he does not run the site and only helps out, and that the owner of the site has been MIA and he hasn’t talked to him in weeks. He told me the lights were not in stock (even though the website said they were) and tried to upsell me some lights he could ship out, but they were not the lights I had my eye on, so I passed on his offer. Basically after a lot of back and forth (all which he was very pleasant from him), I was basically let to stand on my own. He tried telling me I was sent a refund and he could see this on his end (although he did not have control over the paypal account). What I did receive from jasper, On the 13th, was an email saying I had a credit memo for jasper offroad. I responded back asking “what is this?” and was never replied to. My paypal account was not refunded at this time, and certainly I did not want store credit for a company that cannot return contact. I even called paypal and asked if there was a refund in process and was told there was not.

On the 16th I escalated my dispute to a claim. I have still not received a phone call, text, facebook message, email, letter, or refund from someone who can help me at jasper offroad and need to wait until the 27th for paypal to refund my claim.

Between the 16th and the time of my refund I tried several time to further get ahold of jasper offroad, no returned calls or phone calls form them.

UNBELIEVABLY on 9/27 I received a message from shawn on ExploringNH forums. Here is what he said:

Quote:

Sorry it took so long, but I finally got ahold of Ryan, so you should now have the refund. Please note/post so on the other forums, such as TW, that you have posted on as well. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
~Shawn

This was my response:

Quote:

You know, originally I thought you were a good guy and I believed you, but that statement right there just confirms you'll full of it. Weather you "got ahold of ryan" or not, it wasn't any action of his why i received a refund. I got a refund because my paypal dispute timed out and it went 10 days without a response, not because you issued me one. unbelievable......

Didn't work, emailed them, got an RMA, returned the motor. They replied back that the ground strap was missing, so I sent that too. Then they said that my paypal account would not accept Canadian dollars. So i changed that and emailed them, but got no reply (and no refund). So here it is, a couple of weeks, no starter, no money, and no replies. I recommend avoiding these people.

// Added update in June

I emailed them over a dozen times, no nasty emails, all very nice words. I left several voice messages, all very nice. There were no responses to the emails, no returned phone calls. My last email in May I asked them to explain to my wife why they were not refunding the money which they had agreed to do. About three weeks after that email, they finally refunded my money which they had agreed to do back in December - only took 6 months, 12+ emails, 4 voice mails.

Save every scrap of packing material, they were quite unhappy since I did not have the original foam insert for the motor. That was because the low and intermittent speeds worked on the motor and I thought that problem was in the switch. But it was the motor and they did refund the money. If you have to return something, just keep trying, they don't answer the phone nor rarely the email, but if you stay on their friendly side, they can treat you right.

Steve

I'm reposting this message I posted elsewhere:

I saw some other posts on this site with Warnings regarding Torch Light Motors in Parlin New Jersey.

We also recently had some issues with this dealership.

We purchased a 2001 XC70 from Jeff LaPoff about a month ago, sight unseen, from across the country. We had it shipped via truck. (While I'm at it, AVOID shipping with Motion Express, out of Portland OR. It was a complete unfunny comedy of errors - too much to tell here...)

To take some blame, I must admit that I was a fool and did not have the car mechanically inspected. BAD BOY, STUPID BOY. Nevertheless, I don't know why car dealers seem to have free reign to lie cheat and steal and all the responsibility sits with the purchaser. I did not perform my due diligence, admittedly, but Jeff deliberately misled me.

His answer to almost any question I had regarding the mechanical condition ( the vehicle was clearly spotless cosmetically as we could see from the many photos) was an emphatic and dismissive "There are NO surprises with this vehicle" - of course in hindsight I can see the writing on the wall, but he was telling me what I wanted to hear. sucker.

After FINALLY receiving the vehicle from the incompetents at Motion Express, I began the importation process (into Canada) - the provincial inspection revealed that I needed to make nearly $3000 worth of repairs to the entire braking and steering system, and that the "like new" tires were winter snows, with significant (though "passable" by inspection standards) age cracking. Great tread depth though!

- another $650 to replace. Not to mention the other electrical problems I am discovering (jamming sunroof, intermittently functioning power seat adjustments etc).

The extended warranty that Jeff talked me into of course didn't cover any of this as problems were clearly "pre-existing".

The car, for our money, even with all the investments to date, and predicted future ones to come, was still a good deal (much higher priced in Canada), though the savings I was expecting were hugely diminished by the deception.

Don't be fool and unlike me, have a mechanic CHECK IT OUT!!!!

Sitech is fairly well known for their Focus RS manifold that bolts up to several Volvo engines as well. I while back I purchased a manifold for review, which unfortunately arrived in a condition that did not lend well to testing. I wrote the best review I could based on design alone and left it at that.

Then I had this forwarded to me from VCPUK:

Last week the guy that runs Volvospeed.com phoned up and was trying to get one for free. I had to laugh as he ranted on giving all sorts of "puffed up" drivel about being the leading info site and seller of performance tuning parts for the B5234t engine and volvo's in general. Please be aware that he is not fully up to speed on the install of this on a volvo and there needs to be modifications done to the runners etc and it is not a straight swap. You need to install a much bigger throttle body too and the Focus RS one CANNOT be used on 850's/V70's as it is fly by wire.Having said that it is not expensive to do the convesion nor is it difficult to do the mods even at a begginers level. If anyone is interested in one you can drop me a line. It has been specifically designed to breath better and the gains are very impressive.

To address a few key points here:

1. I never called anyone there, nor did anyone ever call me.

2. I didn't feel like going into details that my car did not have the stock thermostat or power steering, but he told me that this will post up directly to an S60.... which it will not, nor did I expect it to.

3. I never asked for a free manifold.

Also what Volvos have you confirmed the manifold works on? I know it will post up to all the I5 engines but had any clearance issues?

Thats fine as cost was not the issue. I was just curious is anyone had tried to bolt this up to say an S60 or an 850. I know it will bolt up but wondering what all would need to be relocated. I can find out for you guys. What is the best payment option for you? Visa, Paypal, let me know.

Its funny how it is a straight swap then it isn't going by those posts. Its not even worth explaining to him that the car has an after-market head, is standalone, and has no power steering.

A lot of other bad details there too, but I am only going to concern myself with the facts.

1. This is the second one I have inspected and both were rough finish.

2. The one I purchased for review was too flawed to provide an accurate review of the product and company.

3. I never called or spoke to Sitech via phone

4. I never asked for anything free.

5. I never received a refund or replacement unit after complaining about the defective one.

If there is any question to how defective it was here:

As for VCPUK I was going to sign up there to comment but after signing up with my webmaster@volvospeed.com address I received the following:

If you know anyone with a RS of Volvo please pass this info on to them. Again I would like to say the manifold itself was a good design, but customer service and the actual product........ Use caution if ordering direct from Sitech.

This is ridiculous:

- 12/2/05 (Friday) order VMS RIP kit ($390). Receive auto-generated email confirmation of purchase.

- 12/7/05 (Wednesday) after receiving no further word from VMS, and no kit, I've tried contacting twice via email to obtain status of purchase. Received no replies.

- 12/8/05 (Thursday) Finally attempt to contact Terry via VS PM and receive a reply. Oh, by the way he tells me, part of the kit is on backorder (gee, thanks for getting back to me with that info - not)

- As Terry is having trouble w/ his supplier I'm not too upset at this point (am, however, not pleased that my credit card has been charged for kit though no product was shipped - not good.)

- 12/23/05 No word on kit. Once again I contact Terry. He says hoses should be in on 12/27. Getting somewhat upset about lack of progress communication from Terry.

- 12/29/05 Contact Terry once again. Says he expects hoses now on 12/30. It's not that I'm particularily upset about the kit being on backorder, rather, that lack of communication about this upfront, the lack of ongoing communication about how long it would take, and the fact that my CC was charged right off the bat.

- 1/5/06 Contact Terry once again. Finally says product is ready to ship and I'll be receiving tracking numbers. All right I think. Overnight or two day is what I'd expect after all this delay. How is product shipped? Ground.

- 1/11/06 Kit finally arrives. Looks good but I'm concerned about weld quality. Proceed to spend 2 hours attempting to fit top tubes. Finally PM Terry. Oh he says, I noticed *after* shipping that the upper tubes were measured incorrectly on my S70. Hmm I think, why wasn't this tested on at *least* one 850?! Terry agrees to replace upper tubes and hoses (clamps that were supplied with kit crushed tubes).

- 1/18/06 No word or replacement parts from Terry. PM once again.

- 1/19/06 Terry says he'll ship them today. What?! why so long. Ok, PM back that I expect these to be overnighted. Later today receive email with UPS tracking number. Much to my dismay replacement parts being shipped..ta da! Great buying experience and was shipped in a timely manner as well.

The product is good too. Nothing like what Rod does, but for a A-pillar pod that attaches to the stock A-pillar it looks great and functions well too.

I went there to have my axle back exhaust cut off and removed so i could fit my IPD rear sway bar. They helped me get the bar in as well, and never tried to sell me anything I didn't need. The whole process cost me $50, which included cuting the exhaust off, removing it, installing the rear sway, and rewelding the exhaust. Additionally they didnt just go back in and weld the exhaust back on they cut a small section of stainless to bridge the two sections and ensure a leak proof fit.

I asked about having a cat put in a new muffler, and the IC pipes redone and they were straight forward and honest. They told me their experience and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. I plan to go back to these guys again in the fall to have my exhaust redone to a smaller diameter to reduce the drone.

Has anyone ever had any dealings with these guys? Good parts selection and seem to be reasonable on the prices on the items I checked out.
