gdizzle
Runing w/o a heat shield will aid in the failure of your ABS module. ;)

Che'_Moderator
Can you go into more detail?Heat, shield. Shields things from heat. Meaning without a "heat shield" there is more heat. Heat caused components to fail. It was this issue that prompted Volvo to install a "Heat shield"

So which components starting failing that prompted Volvo to add the heat shield on the turbo and on the exhaust manifold? Cause on my Volvo, these heat shields look like they would only protect my security system horn, since there's a pretty good shield on the firewall. I was thinking that maybe the hood might be affected, or something else on the firewall(VIN tag)I don't know, that's why I askedI'm actually thinking I'll call Jamie tomorrow to order the correct heat shields, since it'll be at least a week before we R&R the OEs. Just to be safe. But so far, everyone that's run without them has reported NO ISSUES
General Disarray
I haven't had any issues without having one for a year and a half with a lot of driving. Only reason it's off is because some dbag broke into the garage where I was working on my car and stole crap. Luckily my head, and exhaust mani weren't stolen, but why the heat shield and its bolts? The kid has a peddle bike and no car. I may just make a custom heat shield around the brake stuff.

Which means having it off is cause the under hood temperature to increase. Thats not good for anything including performance.

Che'_Moderator
Does AIT = Air Intake Temp?YesNo heat shield for 20k+ miles and over a year.Havent had any problems whatsoever. You mean ignoring you're on engine number three?
'98BRICK
Haha! Keep the AITs down...
Oreo931
You mean ignoring you're on engine number three?Exactly.Since the lack of the heatshield caused my piston rings to go bad, and ultimately have low compression. It also caused a crack in my second engine before I bought it.:D

Che'_Moderator
So I am running rich because I am not using a heatshield?Depends on how high the AITs really are. But the majority of your retard A/F issue stems from you DP
